Hard to believe how warm it is for the first week of May. The Weather Channel has high temperatures ranging from 79 to 88 all week. Even nighttime lows are only supposed to cool to near 60.

Definetely summer-like for the next week at least.

It doesn't look too dry though, so hopefully we get some decent storms out of this pattern.

Funny how just last Saturday morning, we had a minor snow accumulation.

Looks like I came up a little shy on the Watch. Oh well...  plenty of more chances ahead, I am sure.  Been loving this heat.  Going to hate the high in the mid 60s on Wednesday.

No...please bring on those highs. This is unbearable this early.

For any of the thunderstorm watchers out there I just found this site for lightning.

Proving to be very accurate.

http://www.lightningmaps.org/realtime

That's a pretty cool site. I bookmarked it right away, and I've used it a couple of times.

Was down at the Bucco game this evening (left after the fifth inning, because the kids have school tomorrow), and driving home I was watching the lightning light up the clouds to the west. Came in and checked that site, and none of it is much further east than I-77. Pretty impressive...

AREAS AFFECTED...FAR ERN OH / WV PANHANDLE AND ERN WV / NWRN VA /
WRN MD / WRN-CNTRL PA

CONCERNING...SEVERE POTENTIAL...WATCH UNLIKELY

VALID 311651Z - 311845Z

PROBABILITY OF WATCH ISSUANCE...20 PERCENT

SUMMARY...A COUPLE OF STRONG STORMS WILL LIKELY DEVELOP THIS
AFTERNOON. A FEW OF THESE STORMS MAY POSE A MARGINAL/LOCALIZED
SEVERE THREAT. THE ANTICIPATED COVERAGE OF SEVERE ACTIVITY WILL
LIKELY PRECLUDE A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH.

DISCUSSION...MIDDAY SATELLITE IMAGERY SHOWS A SHORTWAVE TROUGH
SHEARING NEWD ACROSS ADJACENT PORTIONS OF OH/PA/NY WHILE A BUBBLING
CU FIELD BECOMES MORE WIDESPREAD. A SURFACE LOW ANALYZED OVER
W-CNTRL OH WILL MIGRATE EWD ALONG A FRONT LOCATED OVER NERN OH AND
THE NRN THIRD OF PA. ISOLATED TO WIDELY SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS
HAVE RECENTLY DEVELOPED ACROSS THE UPPER OH VALLEY AND CNTRL
APPALACHIANS.

WEAK MID-LEVEL LAPSE RATES AND A WEAK CAP SAMPLED BY THE 12Z PIT
RAOB /BELOW 6 DEG C PER KM/ COMBINED WITH TEMP/DEWPOINTS IN THE NEAR
80 DEG F/LOWER TO MID 60S RESPECTIVELY...HAS CONTRIBUTED TO WEAK
BUOYANCY /500 J PER KG MLCAPE/. AS FORCING FOR ASCENT ASSOCIATED
WITH THE MID-LEVEL PERTURBATION COUPLED WITH A REMOVAL OF MLCIN
OCCURS...PARCELS LIFTING THROUGH THEIR LFC SHOULD PROMOTE A FURTHER
INCREASE IN THUNDERSTORM COVERAGE THROUGH MID AFTERNOON. THE SLIGHT
ENHANCEMENT OF TROPOSPHERIC SWLY/S MAY RESULT IN A FEW STRONGER
MULTICELLS AND PERHAPS TRANSIENT SUPERCELL STRUCTURE FROM ERN OH EWD
INTO CNTRL PA. FARTHER S OVER THE VA/WV/MD REGION...WEAKER OVERALL
FLOW WILL TEND TO LIMIT STORM ORGANIZATION BUT SMALL HAIL/LOCALIZED
STRONG WIND GUSTS ARE POSSIBLE WITH THIS ACTIVITY TOO.

TORNADO NEAR HERMITAGE IN MERCER COUNTY PENNSYLVANIA ON MAY
31 2015.

THE TORNADO BEGAN NEAR THE SHEETZ GAS STATION AT THE CORNER OF ROUTE
18 AND ROUTE 518. AT THIS LOCATION...PART OF A STATION CANOPY WAS
REMOVED AND DISPERSED DOWNWIND TO THE NORTH. NUMEROUS PANELS OF A
WOOD FENCE WERE BLOWN FROM NORTH TO SOUTH. ALTHOUGH NOT A STRICT
DAMAGE INDICATOR IN THE EF-SCALE...THE WIND WAS OBSERVED ON CAMERA

ORNAMENTAL SOFTWOOD TREES ALSO WERE SNAPPED. DAMAGE BECAME MUCH
SPARSER WITH TIME...AND SEEMED TO END JUST NORTH OF SAMPLE ROAD.

PROBABILITY OF WATCH ISSUANCE...20 PERCENT

SUMMARY...THE NEED FOR A SEVERE WEATHER WATCH FOR LATE THIS
AFTERNOON STILL APPEARS UNLIKELY DUE TO POTENTIALLY LIMITED STORM
COVERAGE. BUT CONVECTIVE TRENDS WILL CONTINUE TO BE MONITORED FOR
THE POSSIBILITY OF INCREASING SEVERE WEATHER POTENTIAL...MAINLY IN
THE FORM OF POTENTIALLY DAMAGING WIND GUSTS.

DISCUSSION...LOW-LEVEL CONVERGENCE...AND MID/UPPER FORCING FOR
ASCENT...APPEAR WEAK...BUT MODERATELY STRONG BOUNDARY LAYER
DESTABILIZATION IS UNDERWAY ALONG A STALLED/SLOW MOVING FRONTAL ZONE
ACROSS THE UPPER OHIO VALLEY INTO NORTHERN MID ATLANTIC COAST AND
SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND. INHIBITION FOR THE MIXED LAYER /NOW
CHARACTERIZED BY CAPE ON THE ORDER OF 2000 J PER KG/ CONTINUES TO

DEVELOPMENT INCREASINGLY LIKELY THROUGH 21-23Z. SUSTAINED STORMS
PROBABLY WILL BE AUGMENTED/ENHANCED BY BY MODEST WEST NORTHWESTERLY

OF THE SEASONABLY STRONG MID/UPPER JET STREAK NOW BEGINNING TO NOSE
EAST OF THE NORTHERN MID ATLANTIC COAST. THE EVOLUTION OF ONE OR

THIS MAY CONTINUE TO SUPPORT ISOLATED TO WIDELY SCATTERED STRONG STORM DEVELOPMENT CAPABLE OR PRODUCING AT LEAST LOCALIZED STRONG/POTENTIALLY DAMAGING WIND GUSTS THROUGH THE REMAINDER OF THE AFTERNOON.
