Congrats to you guys down south. Enjoy it. :)

PAH been doing well, though seems the sensor isn't handling it the best. Cold storm too, with the temps in the low 20's...down to 20˚ at 8:00pm. Pretty impressive for March (normal high/low for Paducah today is 55˚/34˚).

Congrats buddy. Shame not more people to talk with about it

It's all good. I understand. That's why I rarely talk unless a big snow or severe weather outbreak is on the way.

It sucks living in the transition zone during the winter, but about four times a decade we're rewarded with a 6+ inch storm rather than those typical 2-4 inch storms we get once or twice a winter.

On a storm note, I'm now up to 8 inches. Snow rates look to taper off soon, but I should hit 9 inches maybe 10 inches.

While missing out on the funnest part of the storm, I thought I read that Nashville hasn't had a 1.0" snowfall in like forever. Well, they may have just ended that drought in the last hour...0.13" precip between 7:00-8:00am with heavy snow.

12-20 inches across Kentucky is pretty impressive.  It's great for snow lovers down there, but I do have to shake my head a bit whenever locations well to my south get huge snowstorms when I've never even seen anything like that.

This topic may not be super active because there aren't a bunch of members down there, but thanks to ukrocks for keeping us updated.  I've certainly been following the storm.

Guest ovweather

Hi, guys. New poster here but longtime lurker. Just thought the lower OV could use another poster since there aren't many of us on here!

I can confirm those high snowfall totals. 13 inches at my location just southeast of Louisville. My sister 10 miles to the south has 19 inches. Just across the river in southern IN totals are closer to 8 inches. The extreme totals came from persistent bright banding late last night just south of Louisville. Snowfall rates of 2-3 inches per hour persisted for hours, although I don't think anyone reported thundersnow. This setup was perfect for heavy snow and was probably a once in a 25 year type of event. And all this snow fell after 2-3 inches of rain and flooding. Oh, and the temperature on Tuesday hit the low 60's!

Kudos to the ECMWF for nailing these totals days out. The NAM was persistent as well showing a foot plus. The GFS was, well the GFS, but it did ok.
