Ian
I dunno why people are allowed to lie here and get away with it. Mitchnick is a piece of ****. CAPE
Anyone who loves the outdoors and snow should be outside today. Gorgeous out there. Probably the last day to enjoy the snow before it starts to rapidly.dissappear. Just spent 2 houts at Tuckahoe Stae Park hiking and taking photos. I was the only one on the trail. Perfect. Just me, the honking geese, deer tracks, and beautiful snowy scenery.

When did this forum become a place you had to make a weeniecast 7-10 days out to be relevant? I dont get why some people track snow events, watch it snow, then track the next one. Do they even go outside? My love for snow is tied to my love for the outdoors and being out there soaking it up. Seems like a dumb hobby if you are just sitting inside on your ass looking at models all day and when something happens, looking out the window at it. I love snow whenever it happens. If it snows a foot on April 5th I'll be pumped. Not much better than walking around while it's snowing. I just don't get -- and never have-- why extreme positivity is allowed but anything measured is treated like you are an anti snow nazgul.

Bob Chill
I don't give a crap if it snows again either way. The season was great. My current snow on the ground will be a distant memory before anything could potentially happen again. However, the ensembles have my interest right now and I'm going to post about them every day. Ian
I'm not sure if you've melted, Ian, or are the clear eyed person in the room as everyone tries to hang onto a dying season.I want winter to end and it's annoying me that it isn't. But I don't need to have my views twisted either. There is nothing but fact that mar 15 and beyond is dreaming time for snow in the cities regardless of last year. I know many know that. I just don't understand why people have to be vilified for not jumping all in at range at anytime let alone so late in the season.

Weenies dont like measured, rational, realistic...I have been flamed plenty of times for being "negative", several times back in late Dec and early Jan wrt snow threats. I got PMs about it. Seriously? I never gloat or bump posts, but if I did there would be pletny of cases of "I told you so".

If it doesn't snow again I'm okay with that but until the first week of Aprin I'm in.

And you should. I think I'm of the blended approach. I'm still with my cold/snow gang, but I can get with what Ian is selling too. If it looks like a solid chance at a nice event, I'm in...but not 15 days out, lol. Or even 7 days out at this point. On the other hand, if we get a -NAO with nothing but miserable cold (relative to average) and no snow...no thanks, I hope it fails.

Most of the disagreements here are pretty small even if we act like they are big. We all want snow or we wouldn't be here. But, clearly, those who are cup half full+ (even if not the best long term) are more liable to have fans. But I worry we'll get a west based NAO on like Mar 25th. Good for the interior maybe.. us not so much. I mean whatever happens happens... understandable why some might not care that much though as we have some good interior zones around here. Nevertheless we went a whole winter with almost no NAO so it's one of those things that should be viewed skeptically until the short term maybe. Sometimes there is a fine line between being negative or just enjoying delivering bad news to those who want snow. Often it is real hard to tell the difference with some posters if they are trolling or being serious. When we are all tracking a storm and a bad model run comes there are some here that just can't wait to s*** on those who love snow. I could go on further but what's the point. You seem to be a pretty reasonable poster and you understand your climo

I look at the guidance as much as everyone else at times, but I mostly keep my thoughts to myself. There are enough other regulars there that post and lead the discussions. Thats fine with me. I have learned not to make posts that "disagree" with the consensus optimism over a possible set up, or pattern change at long leads, even if I think its premature or not a good one. And I dont know as much as a lot of others here anyway.

It's the sensitivity that causes this....not sure what happened to you. My only advice is to grow thicker skin. It'll serve you well in the real world with real men. And I dont know as much as a lot of others here anyway. In the past few years it's suddenly become 'wrong' here to not have a call 5-7 days out even though we've seen repeatedly that the models have had issues from 72+. There have been plenty of cases where I've 'felt' a big snow was coming but I'd rather not state that because it's too soon... It's odd how certain people are very eager to point out all the miscalls of others and then whitewash their own myriad bad calls. Anyone who makes a lot of calls will be wrong quite a bit. I've been at this long enough now that I want to limit how many are wrong. Being right is better than being first.
