I also privately did what ill do now, apologize for publicly calling him out. Hes a long time solid contributor who never causes issues or fights and didnt deserve to have his wrong call thrown in his face like that. Finding the right balance between being heavy fisted and letting things slide around here will take some time, and i hope Jm reconsiders leaving and is willing to be one of the people here willing to work with me to find that balance. The invitation extends to everyone here who wants to help make this place a better subforum, and no longer the laughingstock we are now. Its going to be a big effort, and im sure theyll be more missteps by me (and everyone else lol), but please be patient, and have a willingness to put this dumpster fire out. Everyone needs to contribute, and we all need to take a step back and think a bit before we post. I hope we can turn this place around. Heavy on the cliches, i know. Screw off. Lol. Your a fine moderator and based on your statement, you stand very tall. Besides if our Burlesque gets a little out of hand we always need a steady hand wielding the hook. Some things are never going to change, there will always be weenies making crazy predictions. There will always be newbies who are trying to learn and we should be mindful of that. One thing that does appear to have changed over the years is people seem to have become much more defensive. Part of the reason for that I'm guessing is that there appears to also be an increase in people on the attack with a need to be correct all of the time. I think folks have to relax and not take themselves so serious. These boards are great when there is discussion between folks who may have different opinions but still respect that everyone has their own opinion and thoughts. When i see a poster make a statement that other dont agree with, instead of asking why they think what they do the op gets attacked which leads to pages of bickering. If people would engage the op in a discussion rather than an attack i think it would be better for everyone. Now you dont have to agree with what the op is saying and you can state that in your own post as to why you feel differently on a given situation. Input from a variety of posters may give many different solutions but it also makes you think about what and why you the interpretation you do. Less attacks and more discussion allows people like me to learn more and understand what you guys are thinking and how you got there. Delete the banter posts. ONLY discussion relative to a storm at hand should be in a date posted thread. All other posts deleted and offending posters warned and subsequently 5 posted or otherwise given a time out for failure to comply. Period. Then you could have a related non-met thread for each such thread where everyone else could talk. This way the mets can have scientific discussions, everyone else who wants to listen can follow, but others can also discuss in the related thread. That can be moderated too, but I wouldn't want the job. The mets and other folks who were given dispensation can also drop in to talk there, but only if they felt like it. I don't want to hear about it being a free speech thing. This is a privately owned board and no one has the right to say whatever they want or do the equivalent of starting brawls in the middle of good discussion. I love the passion, the intensity, the personal attacks. It's supremely entertaining...not just that, but the up to the second model play by play is a lot faster in this subforum.
