NCWeSU
Still appears to be all snow in this lighter band of precip in Cary. I think that's a good sign as thermodynamic cooling isn't necessary yet. Eagerly anticipating the higher dbz's to the south.
Cold Rain
If I'm getting mainly rain/sleet here in south wake... is there any hope for snow later? I knew this would happen No, probably not. We are done. Lots of sleet falling and big graupel looking things.

jburns
My small flakes have changed to larger flakes. They are 'floating' down. Big storms don't usually float.

Dunkman
No, probably not. We are done. Lots of sleet falling and big graupel looking things. I wouldn't throw in the towel until you see an extended period of heavy rain. It isn't hard to go back to snow from sleet and you may get hit pretty hard from the coastal much later. LovingGulfLows
Dry slot forming over the ATL metro. Comical at this point. Incredible how much potential this storm had for the Atlanta area, yet it ended up worse than Jan last year...like what? Sigh...

featherwx
Light rain/snow mix here in Durham. Assuming it will change to all snow here shortly, especially when rates pick up.
NCWeSU
If I'm getting mainly rain/sleet here in south wake... is there any hope for snow later? I knew this would happen Yes, the melting snow will continue to cool the atmosphere. Rain/snow/sleet mix was supposed to occur until that happened. I still think you should expect snow in an hour or two. May change back to sleet though after a few hours.

KChuck
Flakes starting to increase in size in Pine Knolls. Currently 37.6/28 pressure 29.91 showing .03" precip. mikepie
Incredible how much potential this storm had for the Atlanta area, yet it ended up worse than Jan last year...like what? Sigh... I think that convection down south really screwed things up here. AL and MS got the huge totals because that convention hadn't formed and the best moisture was transferred north, which I don't think happened here. This is somewhat of a guess but I know that southern convection has hurt us before.
NCWeSU
Those higher dbzs are snow eaters. You do not want them. All sleet. The sleet won't necessarily translate north. The radar shows bright banding from large wet flakes as well. With that in mind it certainly could be sleet as the atmosphere continues to cool thermodynamically.
