Home Weather Station Troubleshooting

BTRWx

Recommended Posts

I purchased one of the cheap brand home weather stations a few years ago from WeatherWiseInstruments and have been mostly satisfied with the results and accuracies of the meteorological readings. The station uses a solar sensor to recharge the thermometer sensor's AA rechargeable alkaline batteries.  During this recent D.C. area record cold air mass and a fresh snow cover base approximately 10 feet below the mounted station temperature readings from the sensor went anomalously high.  The temperature values are still in error for the first time since I have had the home weather station running continuously since fall 2013.  Can old batteries cause extreme temperature readings?

Note: For anyone interested in a similar home weather station, there are probably better options for purchasing a similar product on Amazon after mine initially came with some of the hardware plastic bent as if a new product was previously returned.
