OceanStWx
The CON period of record is wrong. We have data back to 1868, but NCDC hasn't put it in digital form for us yet. Luckily, it shouldn't affect the numbers regarding this month. If we do end up giving a few tenths of a degree back it could bring a couple Januarys in the late 1800s back into play. Quincy
BDL doing everything it can to avoid the record. Spiked up to 28 already despite MAV/MET forecast highs of 21/26. It's going to be a nail-biter, but I think they'll still break Feb. 1934. Assuming they radiate tomorrow morning.

tamarack
Farmington coop is a lock for coldest Feb, records back thru 1893, probably by 1.5 to 2 F. Should land in 3rd place for coldest month, but will probably finish about 3F above Jan 1982, 2F over Jan 1994.

wx2fish
The First CT Lake pulled 12.8F/-16.6F for an average temp of -1.9F. There are 2 missing days at the COOP and looking at the PWS nearby these days would probably pull the average down a little lower. They pulled 3 mornings below -30F. That is the coldest Feb on record and second coldest month to Dec 89 (-2.5F) at that station with records going back to 1918.
ORH_wxman
ORH gets the prize for being the one first order station to pull off the duo of All Time Snowiest month and All Time coldest month...not just February records.

That is the coldest Feb on record and second coldest month to Dec 89 (-2.5F) at that station with records going back to 1918. I was at Lyndon for December '89 and it was an unreal month. This month certainly compares but I think having the short daylight just added to the effect up there. Day after day of just unreal numbers. I'm glad that I got to relive it here but it was probably a little warmer! For me, I ended up with both the coldest February and coldest month since I started keeping records in 1985. I blew the previous February record out the door by 8.6°. The difference between #2 and #3 is only a half degree for reference. My average low was -3, helped by having such records as my latest -15° reading on the 25th and getting to -17° on the 21st. That's the first time I've been below -15 in ten years. All my other readings that low are in January, except for one in December. In terms of winters (December, January & February), this edges 1994 as my coldest winter. In terms of snow, I had my snowiest February with 46.7". With 91.6" on the season, this is now #3 for me behind 2001 and 1996. It's my second snowiest month but only third snowiest winter. January 2011 was better in terms of snow but the combination of snow and cold makes this winter slightly better.
