N. OF PIKE
KMPV is -14.3 for the month with the highest temp 27F today. Average monthly temp is 4.8F with an average low of -6F No wonder Stowe Visits were down this Vaca Week and prolly around NNE. Who the heck is thinking of renting a cabin for a week to enjoy this "weather".
Quincy
PVD has fallen to 26F before 5Z to continue their below normal mean streak. Up to 33F at BDL. A high at midnight will probably mess up what could have been another well below average day.

OceanStWx
Bootleg high of 30 overnight at PWM, given our forecast temps at midnight tonight that might keep our average from going down any. I'm a little surprised that this could be BGR's coldest MONTH on record by a fair margin. It's not like we're that far away and we've had several Januarys comparable to this month's average temp. Though we're looking at a good chance for a top 5 month all time. Currently 13.8, 12.2 in Jan 1971 is the coldest.

OceanStWx
CON has several months that are probably out of reach, including Dec 1989 and Feb 1934, but a top 10 month looks reasonable.

tamarack
Yesterday will wind up about +1, and shound be my only positive departure for the month, given forecasts. Avg temp Feb 1-22 is 2.66 (15.50/ -10.18), and I'm guessing the month will finish with an avg between 3 and 4, beating Jan 2004 (5.16) for coldest month here since we moved in May 1998, and obliterating the Feb record of 10.46 set in 2007. Farmington coop is on a bit of sidehill and thus doesn't get the deep radiational cold of my location, so they will come in about 2F less cold than my avg. That still would be in the running for 3rd coldest month since 1893, and should easily take the top spot for Feb. Their coldest 10 months: 3.39....Jan 1982 4.44....Jan 1994 6.18....Jan 1981 6.23....Dec 1989 6.68....Jan 1971 7.03....Jan 1976 7.41....Feb 1993 7.65....Jan 1912 8.27....Jan 1918 8.61....Jan 2004

Quincy
BDL's mean monthly temperature is up to 16.1 degrees. In order to set a new record for coldest month on record, they need to average 17 degrees per day (or lower) over the final six days of February. MOS/MEX guidance projections, using today's high of 31: Feb. 23: 31/-3 = 14 Feb. 24: 21/-5 = 8 Feb. 25: 28/11 = 20 Feb. 26: 17/2 = 10 Feb. 27: 22/0 = 11 Feb. 28: 24/-4 = 10 This would yield a monthly mean temp of 15.3, using the 6z to 6z model high/low range. The margin of error is 5 degrees per day. Factor in the model bias of being a couple of degrees too low during the day and there appears to be enough room for error to make a run at the previous record of 16.5 degrees in February of 1934. While some of the lows may not be reached by end of day, like tonight, a few radiational cooling nights with the fresh snowpack could help offset that. OceanStWx
Just ran the averages for PWM based on our forecast for the rest of the month. It would come out to 13.4 degrees, coldest February by 2.2 degrees (15.6 1979), and second coldest month ever (12.2 January 1971).
