Surprised we started off as snow with the reports of sleet to our west.  Just check mesoanalysis though and we are def cold enough now.  850s are -4° and 925s are -1°.  Tiny little flakes.

Precipitation is actually fairly impressive on the high-resolution radar back to your West.

Here in Lexington, we are starting to finally drop our dew points & temperature quickly.  40/37

Yeah the heavier stuff is supposed to anchor in NE GA according to the hi res short term models.  Maybe we can get lucky and get under some heavy returns though and pick up a couple inches tonight. :weenie:   I wouldn't be surprised too see a few spots in N GA get 6" tonight if the models verify.

Radar is really blooming in western NC! The area is expanding and increasing radar returns. Wonder if anything is reaching the ground east of the mountains? Radar streaks headed straight for Winston Salem and GSO...

31.3 degrees here and 45% RH

Supposedly it's all going to die in the foothills. We shall see.

sweet!  hopefully a lot of us will get some snow

sleet and snow are finally starting to mix in here, the temp is 33

right on cue.

It's painful sitting here 10 degrees warmer than everywhere else. Still 42 here. Winds have finally come out of the east though so the cold should still be on it's way but it seems like pulling fingernails waiting for it with an active radar and reports of frozen stuff all around. Based on upstream readings and model depictions, expect a cool down/changeover here still by 4am.

One word of caution though for areas to the west. the models, in particular the rap is holding onto a very stubborn warm layer from the surface up to around 900mb along and west of athens toward the atlanta area through the night. This is the left over from the lookout eddie of death that's been keeping temps up here.  Taken at face value this would spell rain until sunrise for many from atlanta to athens to maybe even gainesville. however it's interesting seeing reports of sleet and/or snow making it to the surface north of atlanta so maybe the rap is a bit over done with it. But it's something to keep an eye on.
