psuhoffman
I'm about 11 miles north of your local. Weathertap radar shows the mixing line cutting across northern Carroll last I checked..it was tickling westminster. I'll probably change soon. The last hour when it's light I mix with sleet then go back to snow when it picks up in intensity.
wxdude64
Just measured to get a SWE. Have to leave for work in a few and didn't want rain to corrupt measurement. So as of 9 pm, I have had 11.0 inches of snow/sleet. Melted is 1.59 inches. A 7-1 ratio, mainly due to all the sleet. A 11 and a 8.5 within a week, not bad. Still have a light snow/sleet mix falling. yuki neko
Made the mistake of shoveling the 1 inch of snow I left to make the job of ice removal easier thinking that the air temp was 33. Although air temps are above freezing, the ground is not. Pretty thick glaze of ice on the steps now.
Buddy1987
anyone still have snow?Just switched about 25 minutes ago. Eskimo Joe
Radar seems to be back building some west of frederick...Nothing heavy but notable. Currently 25 with flurries. No mix yet Just noticed that myself. Even though the radar shows virtually nothing over New Windsor we have light sleet.

My temp is 30F now. 0z HRRR moves the rain east of the cities by 9z, but gives us 0.5" between 0z and 9z. My street got plowed a couple hours ago and is now a sheet of ice. HighStakes
no idea how to get an accurate measurement. Blew into drifts bad. I got 8" in the low spots but drifts up to 20" in places. Of course way more low spots then drifts so no idea. It's 8+ I know that but how much more would be a guess. It's definitely over 8 but I don't have a real good place to measure like I usually do because of the wind. I was really surprised by how much wind we had. That one spotter 1 mile SSW of town came in at 7.4 at 8 o'clock and that seems too low. I'm waiting to see what that other spotter says who is 3 miles SSW of Linboro. He is only 1 mile from my house but he was running low with his report from 1:40 in the afternoon. 8.5 seems reasonable.
Snowman.
Question: How long is Fairfax County from north to south? I ask because northern Fairfax got three times as much snow as southern Fairfax (including yours truly). Western Fairfax climo is much different from Eastern Fairfax. Western Fairfax (areas like Reston and Herndon) have a similar climate to mine in Eastern Loudoun. Much higher elevation than areas east of say Centreville. We got banded early on and often and thus the big difference in totals.
StudentOfClimatology
32.4 w/ light rain, but trees continuing to accrete ice anyway. Ended up with about 5", that band just before the change was amazing..

WxMan1
Gonna call it an even 5" imby. Saw a report for 6" in town. When I left for work (~5:30 pm)...it looked like we were around 4" in Crofton. Was there another 1" after that? Looked like we were starting to mix/change to sleet around 5:45.
