Bob Chill
Radar looks really nice to my west. Hell I'm thinking 8" possible. Great event We might do it. If sleet approaches from the se, we'll hold on longer than we might think. I'm surprised its still holding tough to the south with a slow progression. Sleet counts too! Jebman
What a steady stream of moisture. Doesn't get much better than that. If it was going to be all snow all night we'd be in snow heaven

WEATHER53
These are not precise calculations but monitoring the northward progress of the 0C 850 line it his moving north 5/6/7 mph so that still looks like 9pm for changeover, currently about 29F at 850. BTRWx
Is that huge yellow/orange band developing SW a snow band or sleet? Radarscope has it as heavy snow.

winterymix
Thanks for the update... that gives us almost 6 more hours. Double digits might be in reach. snowfan
Awful. I just pulled up trafficland.com and both beltway systems are lit up in red. My wife had to be at AAMC at 3 for work. She reported roads were rough until she got to 50. Things def let up there. Jives with the reports we've received from the southern AA Co folks. ..... clskinsfan
4:00 PM. Moderate snow. 22 degrees. 7.7 total. .5 last hour. I must have some compaction going on or something. I had moderate snow for the entire hour and only increased my pack by .5. Snow continues to come down at a moderate clip. Radar to SW looks juicy. Deck Pic
Here is how the latest RAP initialized for DC. This is an hour ago. 850 is -1.5, but 925mb is still -6. 900-950 is what is ultimately going to do us in. I think the layer around 850 is pretty shallow and can be overcome. I also don't think it is racing north either. It hasn't been very cold the whole storm
McQuackleton
Here is some good radar to look at that yellow/orange band coming our way. http://weather.cod.edu/satrad/nexrad/index.php?type=LWX-N0Q-1-

snowfan
I think we're good until after dark. I'm a little suspicious of any change to rain......or at least a change with lots of precip left. MillvilleWx
Radarscope has it as heavy snow. Using correlation coefficient, looks like snow in the far western regions of VA, snow/sleet mix towards MD and sleet in southern MD. I think areas north of I70 will be okay till 9-10pm tonight before a full changeover.
