StormPinsMike
Totally ripping big flakes in Leesburg, drove from Leesburg to Ashburn earlier on backroads and they were terrible. Sycolin Road southbound is basically impassable with a line of cars stuck going uphill just south of JYO. Wanted to throw out one single call out for my company, StormPins. You can share your storm pictures and observations in our app. Search for StormPins in Google Play or Apple App Store.

Random Chaos
Heavy snow band is about two miles NW of me. You can see it cutting across the water where visibility goes to zero - there is another 3 miles on the other side before you get to Glen Burnie / Pasadena area. Deck Pic
Hooray for general consistency. Without you guys I would think I'm crazy. Snow picked up a little again, but flakes still minuscule. once a storm is underway, I mellow out and my attitude is just to be grateful for whatever falls. Sometimes things don't unfold the way we want or progress according to plan. We aren't in the best spot climo-wise. I'm rarely disappointed in any storm that gives me accumulating snow, unless it is some huge epic bust where I get 0.5 and we were under a warning. NoVaWx
These huge flakes everyone is talking about is not a joke. They are actually the biggest flakes I've ever seen. It looks like rocks landing on top of the old snow. These are easily bigger than golfball sized.

mattie g
Flakes have been pretty small in general. Except when the yellows pushed through about an hour ago it's been fairly tame.

87storms
NWS has DCA going over to FZRAPL at 20Z...gotta say I do not see that at all. I think it might start getting more rate dependent as we get later in the afternoon but yea we are locked in for now. This is a snowstorm right now and nothing else. mitchnick
I know this is a small screen but can't help it, but it is a conservative radar and shows how the stream of moisture is to continue for some time. Moreover, it's not creeping north. http://vortex.plymouth.edu/nerad1km_an.gif
