They tend to radiate really well for a little town near the coast

 

 

I think it has to do with copious cleared land, flat topography, sandy soil, and lack of development. I've seen all kinds of cold lows there through the years. East winds will cause issues but nights like this are impressive. Bay being mostly frozen surely helps.

Its like a mini version of the NJ Pine Barrens.
