Ji
Yes but we didn't like it because it was too dry. It's wasn't that far off IIRC We just need to decommission the NAM........until of course, its shows 3.15 liquid all snow on the March 1st bomb
aldie 22
Has rgem been an exceptionally good short range model this year? Canadians were too far south with the last storm
clueless
I don't care how much. Snow on the ground south of dc by 1pm. Faster and more qpf for my yard than the nams. I toss USA and drink crown royal I finished mine but will go with the CC. That was solid.

psuhoffman
topper shutt lied that storm. he said they sent weather balloons up and confirmed that everything in the upper levels were good enough for all snow...then we got 5 inches of miserable sleet You are thinking of the Feb 1994 sleet storm. The January storm was about 1-3" of snow in northern VA then a LOT of freezing rain. Awful ice storm. Just north of or area got crazy snow totals from what was basically a front with a wave low well north of us along it. Crazy overrunning. This is not a perfect match but the overall setup is similar. I was just comparing the two, not two storms will be exactly the same. Maybe we get a similar result and just shift it 50 miles south.

It was raining in the teens. The Feb 1994 storm was devestating. called for more than 12 inches of snow and got 5 of sleet. That winter sucked

Sparky
Yep...that's the date...Harrisburg got 18" of snow. I got 8" of pure sleet...it was crazy...1.5 miles south of the m/d line. I have it in my records as mostly snow. I think the big sleeter was in Feb. 94.
87storms
Psu might be thinking of the great sleet storm of 8" we had in Jan 94 but 20 miles north got 15-18" of snow .can't remember the exact date ..sorry i think the sleet storm was from a low that formed along a stalled out front down south after a storm that came through a couple days before. i remember that low going further west than expected. the only difference was we were expected to get 4-8" snow and ended up with sleet (like 5" of it). laguardia got dumped on. Amped
RGEM cut back quite a bit in this area from 18z. Only gives me 6" instead of 12", but 6" is what the NWS has so I'll take it.

Angela T
I was just wondering if anyone looked at current radar to see if models were preforming as modeled. Seems like a lot of cold air down stream, with light frozen.

Bob Chill
Canadians were too far south with the last storm It was pretty good in my yard. I got .32 and the rgem was like .25-.30 or something like that. Based on that I should get 8". I'm good.
