SnoSki14
We all know that NYC runs consistently warmer than all other surrounding areas. Especially compared to NW zones it's a huge difference.
IsentropicLift
Which is where most of us live...? No, that's where you live. And if you only count the people that live in Manhattan the number is very small.

pazzo83
No Most of the board and most of the NYC metro area lives in or near NYC, that's kinda how cities and their metros work.

ag3
No, that's where you live. And if you only count the people that live in Manhattan the number is very small. Why would we do that? NYC is 5 boroughs with millions of people in each borough. Also, Eastern Queens and Northern Bronx are more suburban.
SnoSki14
Even being around 20 miles west of NYC temps are at times a huge difference. Correct I live about 30 miles from the city and it can still get into the 20s well into April while the city might be in the mid to upper 30s. IsentropicLift
Why would we do that? NYC is 5 boroughs with millions of people in each borough. Also, Eastern Queens and Northern Bronx are more suburban. You only count Queens as being part of NYC when it's convenient to you. Last week you made a post about how the people in the five boroughs consider Manhattan to be the city. In any event, we're not talking about the millions of people, we're talking about the few hundred people that post in this sub-forum.
Juliancolton
My average low doesn't get above freezing until April 4, and considering my daily minimums have averaged 14 degrees below normal this month, I might not thaw until the middle of May. You can all come visit sometime after the equinox, when you've realized how much you miss the winter.

That's impossible, according to AG3 nobody lives 30 miles away from NYC.

UnionWeatherWx
NYC is NYC period. Not 1 mile out of NYC. I do agree with AG3, that snowfall amounts are generally the same.

IsentropicLift
The average low at KEWR is still 29F while the average low at KNYC is currently 31F. KEWR is less than 10 miles outside of Manhattan and in a highly urbanized area.

I can go further away from the city if you want, I just wanted to show you that even Newark which is practically the sixth borough averages colder temps than NYC proper. Only 4 degrees separating us from 34 and when factoring in urbanization and the fact that the air mass hit in Feb and not Jan one could argue its one of the greatest 30 day deviations from normal ever .
