codfishsnowman
did we not have much blocking last two winters?
powderfreak
If we get a lot of ice in pack then yes.. Otherwise not too much You know that water weighs the same no matter what form it falls in. Ice, rain or snow.
78Blizzard
For MBY, the 18z GFS gives a few inches of snow before the taint to sleet and then rain, and a couple more inches of snow after the rain. The rain amounts to less than .5 here. If it verifies like this, it shouldn't be a disaster, just some street flooding.
TalcottWx
Someone slipped up at BOX. This is on their winter weather page.
Typhoon Tip
Wow the run is lol insane in the later periods, though. ho goodness! I still say this nearer term event over the late weekend comes down to the handling of the aggressive N-stream. And for that, I hate to say ... the GFS is your model. Doesn't mean it will be right -- but that is why it has been scoring better this winter, is because it more than merely seems to handle the arctic/polar jets. moneypitmike
18z GFS actually flips back to snow. And we all know how well back end snows play out. Meanwhile, somewhere on a knoll in Tolland, an anonymous user is shopping for a good deal on Lesco. 23.0/

NECT
there going to be structural issues everytime weight gets added, temperatures rise. I told Scooter a couple of times the foundation has been laid the infrastructure issues will only get worse until this pattern completely breaks down. Well a couple years ago there were a ton of roof collapses due to heavy snow. Wondering if the herd has been thinned, so to speak.

Quincy
SREF mean doesn't appear to be all that unreasonable, despite being in clown range. 32F spread from I-95 to Canadian border!
Cold Miser
lol Forky. He disappears for 4 weeks, but he makes sure to pop his head out when there is potential rain in the forecast.

Quincy
GFS is snow to rain to snow again.2-meter temps stay locked in too. Barely tickling 33-34F from MMK-IJD-ORH-BOS.
CoastalWx
Net gain? Tough call, depends on how much rain.
NorEastermass128
Net gain?Perhaps. Looks like a couple inches to 33F light rain back to light snow.
CoastalWx
If the GFS is right, it would be a net gain.

78Blizzard
Each succeeding run since the 00z GFS last night has strung out, with less qpf and now with a colder solution. You could see the press of the arctic air back in the OV from that shown on the 18z run.
