weatherCCB
9.30 obs. 13.6. Fine small flakes still falling steadily . Had an up tick in flake size for awhile. Back to fine small flakes 1.9" bar was 6". I just want to beat my 3.75" I had in 1/6/15.
Kmlwx
I can't speak for everyone. But a band is going to form to the west of the cities sometime after midnight....and it will probably be dendrites...The "good" stuff was ALWAYS forecast to come after 10-11pm...most of the models along the way had the best stuff closer to 12-3...... People seem to be (as with every storm since forums were a thing) freaking out about the dryslot thingy. The number of posts about the dryslot has been steadily increasing - It's really nice out and I like that the bands keep cruising through.
dailylurker
If someone told me 12 hours ago, we'd be on our way to 3" before 10 pm I'd be pretty happy. Still have what 7-9 hours of storm left give or take? X2. I'll have nearly 2". I like my #pixieizzard. Takes longer to melt thicker snow. That high ratio stuff would be gone soon as the sun hits it. midatlanticweather
I am just shy of 2 inches. We have had very light snow and then little bursts on and off the last 2 hours.. I blew the snow and thought it looks like more than 2 but then I measured! Always want more than what I got! LOL! Don't go there!
Ji
Real snow right now....
MacintoshPro
My ratios are much higher now with dendrites mixing in with the pixie dust. I really want that dry slot too stay west, and I may get some higher totals.
LP08
-SN but flakes a lot fluffier...hoping the worm has turned..a little over 2"

I'm just enjoying what comes....I've addressed the dry slot like 10 times as have others.....I'm going to enjoy this band and then probably take a break, because all the people melting down is going to be annoying

StudentOfClimatology
Bigger flakes mixing in now..I'm over 2", maybe 2.5". Will measure in a bit...
NorthArlington101
I assume the flake size increasing would support the idea that the column is moistening, which hopefully would quell dry slot fears.
yuki neko
4.5 cm (1.7 in) 1.5 more than last hour. Every so often a big ~1cm big flake falls out of the sky
cae
Radar says it's letting up here, but it's hard to tell by looking outside.
DDweatherman
Probably around 2" at Dundalk. I'm up at golds so I'll give a real ob when I finish up.
Deck Pic
So the dry slot is going to fill in from west to east from 10:30 to 11:30....It has been modeled...

Deck Pic
I assume the flake size increasing would support the idea that the column is moistening, which hopefully would quell dry slot fears. the lull might still happen, but my guess is as it fills in we see a different flake size... WxMan1
Surprising band of precip forming in S Central PA wasn't depicted on any of the models. That's the northern band where the best lift/moisture is up around the -15C isotherm. What we have learned time and time again: if you're gonna have a relatively dry sub-cloud layer, it'd be best if the uvvs and saturation are within the -12 to -18C layer, which maximizes dendritic growth. Skywalker03
Beautiful in N Rockville right now. Over 1.5 inches, but hard to be exact. I'm seeing some real flakes for the first time all night.
Swiscaster
Not sure why I'm getting flack for my post--it is very unlikely we'll see 6-10" amounts if the ratios don't change. No models are spitting out 0.6" - 1.0" liquid around here (50 mile radius of DC).
mitchnick
seems like many are getting better snow flakes all of a sudden....nice
