it's nowcast time.

water vapor loop actually looks ok: http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/east/eaus/flash-wv.html

current "base" reflectivity has that "maryland should be fine" look (famous last words?): http://radar.weather.gov/Conus/full_loop.php

and here's january 30, 2010 loop for fun (pretty similar look, i hope): https://mesonet.agron.iastate.edu/current/mcview.phtml?prod=usrad&java=script&mode=archive&frames=60&interval=60&year=2010&month=1&day=30&hour=0&minute=0

For those getting snow, what is the consistency? Dendrites?

Also, if you know what your 850 temp is that would be great too.

Light stuff is pixie dust. In the heavier rates which is happening right now, they are dendrites, like wxdude posted above.

Jan 2010 had decent returns getting almost into Dayton. As of now the radar looks quite meager in southern Ohio, but I haven't really kept up with that region.

Radar is looking juiced up. Looks to be on more of a sw to ene track now. Virginia will no doubt get crushed and I am feeling good about northern Marylands chances as well.

yea i wouldn't underestimate that northern band at all.  i could see there being light greens and then dark greens within a 25 mile area on the far north side of the shield.  i've seen it happen before.  i kinda like my spot for now.
