mitchnick
This band is getting stronger and wider each frame. So much for dry air starting to pick up in flake size and intensity here, but still just a coating

poolz1
Almost moderate now...I know this wouldn't be whiff for the NW areas but this is a good sign to hopefully hit top end numbers ... 5" bar is set. 11.4/

Deck Pic
Of course there is a MoCo jackpot. I thought for once, I could do better than them, but whatever. I hate to dignify your post with a response, but there is banding developing to the south and moving this way....

cae
This is why local institutional knowledge is helpful in forecasting here...nobody is going to be surprised when there are secondary lolli's that aren't part of a linear N/S gradient... Is there a reason that the MoCo / HoCo area seems to get banded so often? I feel like there have been a lot of times over the past couple of winters when I was hoping one of those bands would make it up here.
miller.b.time
Looks like 15 dbz returns starting to pick up across the LWX radar. One inbound to CHO. So excite.

Scarlet Pimpernel
Just catching up here. Flakes started shortly after 3PM in the Chevy Chase/Bethesda area, has now been snowing at a pretty steady clip for the past hour. Coating of snow on the ground, including roads (despite all the salt that's been laid down). It's cold out there!

I feel like there have been a lot of times over the past couple of winters when I was hoping one of those bands would make it up here. my best guess is elevation and being west of the fall line.....they don't always band though...parts of Moco did pretty "bad" last year compared to some others... PhineasC
I still think there will be a persistent band between MoCo and the northern tier. It will move back and forth but generally hang around.

Stormpc
Liking where these bands setting up so far These bands are transient. They will move SW to NE until the coastal realigns the precip stream later tonight. That's when some can really jackpot. Until then, enjoy the pulsing rates.
