Windspeed
Moderate snow here. Perhaps on the heavy side of moderate. The flakes aren't big, but they're coming down at a consistent rate. Temperature has also dropped a degree to 26. I have to wonder if 27º is as warm as I'm going to get.
Mr Bob
I have had some FB friends posting some icing pictures in Dunlap...it is 33 over 30 at Lovell field right now so I imagine there is some ice not too far from Chatt...oh so close! tnmetalhead
It's wild to go under an icestorm warning and being now at 38 degrees and rain here in the foothills. The Northwestern 2/3s of Monroe are still getting ice. Even areas farther south than me in the valley, farther away from the mountains are still getting ice as well. 1234snow
Just switched to sleet. Same here! It was pouring snow and it just shut off and now it's sleeting.
ChattChaser
Our temp is dropping here in the valley, not going up. Reports are coming in from surrounding areas like Red Bank that ice is accumulating on cars.
John1122
Consistently heavy sleet. Have a little over an inch of it now. A few flakes mix in with the heaviest showers. Sadly, just about 15 miles too far south for heavy snow. That inch of sleet would be a little over 3 inches of snow with many hours left. temp has bounced between 22 and 23 all day. Carvers Gap
Same here! It was pouring snow and it just shut off and now it's sleeting. Well, it was good while it lasted. Would be surprised to see it switch back. Now, on to part II of this winter storm. Loaded precip to the west.
Silas Lang
Well, it was good while it lasted. Would be surprised to see it switch back. Now, on to part II of this winter storm. Loaded precip to the west. Yup. Sleet and freezing rain here now in JC. It switched very quickly.
Stovepipe
Already at least one person killled in Knox county as a result of an icy car crash. People need to get the hell off the roads.

Bango
Same here! It was pouring snow and it just shut off and now it's sleeting. Yeah noticed that, I hope we don't have too many more lulls...I think another heavy band is moving in though and we should be back to snow in 10 minutes North of gate city
Windspeed
I'm just south of Bristol. Still on the heavy side of moderate snow here. Getting some occasional bigger flakes. Edit: lol... and there's the sleet. Coming down pretty good though.
John1122
My hole is working pretty well. By that I mean how I'm surrounded by higher peaks and get lots of draining of cold and trapped cold. It's 23 degrees here, 2 miles away and 1000 feet up it's 31 degrees.
tnmetalhead
What is your elevation there? Not very high, I'm still very much in the valley elevation wise. Probably right around 1,050.

John1122
The other thing, as the afternoon has crept on it's gotten exceptionally foggy. Visibility is down to maybe 1/2 a mile or so.
Jed33
Freezing rain sleet mix now. Icicles forming on car and a really glaze look outside.
ShawnEastTN
Its really getting bad down this way. Trees are sagging quite a lot, I would estimate we are already around .2 of an inch. Roads are getting treacherous.
ShawnEastTN
The other thing, as the afternoon has crept on it's gotten exceptionally foggy. Visibility is down to maybe 1/2 a mile or so. Temperature inversion possibly contributing to that with the terrain trapping cold.
Bango
Had by far the most intense snow of the day, didn't last long but for about 5 minutes the sky just opened up...back to light north of gate city
1234snow
It's going back and forth here. Just had heavy snow/sleet for about 5 minutes and then back to just barely sleet here. I took the measure tape and got 1 and a 1/2 so far
John1122
I normally get snow or freezing rain or rain. This is the longest duration sleet event I can recall. It rolls. The hillsides here are very steep and it's coverage there is much much less than the coverage in the flat areas.
waltrip
Light sleet continues. Temperature continuing to slowly rise. Up to 28.8 now
Stovepipe
Getting surges of moderate to heavy sleet then lighter periods of zr, rinse repeat. Ground slowly getting white.
ladyjmayo
Temps finally starting to rise a little in Kingston. After holding steady at 26 degrees since early this morning, it has gone up to 28.2 in the last 30 minutes or so. Still a sleet/freezing rain mix. About busted my butt (in my fuzzy slippers!) when I went out on our deck a few minutes ago.
Windspeed
Back over to snow here. I guess it will be back and forth as each heavier echo passes through.
dwagner88
Might need flood advisories down here soon. Pouring rain at the moment. DP is above freezing now, so no danger of ice, but there is going to be a lot of water left on the roads to refreeze later.
