jaxjagman
You posted right as I did. What is your temp/wind and is anything falling? still a 850-700 warm nose
Math/Met
Thanks for the welcome back. I should also mention that the downslope winds will decrease over the next couple of hours as the 925mb winds become more southwesterly. The 925mb southeast wind direction was forcing the downslope conditions.
Windspeed
To those experiencing prolonged periods of freezing rain, good luck. I hope you have a backup plan in case the grid is damaged in your local area. The 2m temperatures on the GFS continue to look pretty brutal over the coming days, though hopefully overdone somewhat. waltrip
After a high of 33.2, the temp is down to 32.8. We currently have a mix of rain and some sleet right now.
John1122
Heavy snow, all sleet is gone. Probably an hour or two of good returns upstream if I'm lucky. Maybe I'll squeeze out 2 inches of snow on top of the 3 of sleet.
Carvers Gap
I think the sun dropping made a big difference. MathMet also mentioned another reason that folks east of I-81 are now cooling off. Good information. Hard fought 2" at this point of snow, then a long period of sleet, and now more snow. I am pretty sure that if you put a sled on that... Mach 1 might be achievable. blazenmp
I'm near where Dickson, Cheatham, and Williamson meet in middle TN, we're currently getting a light rain mist, never had snow. We had only freezing rain and sleet, back and forth all day. I didn't think we'd still be getting anything. Everything is frozen on the ground, trees and structures. Stovepipe
I am pretty sure that if you put a sled on that... Mach 1 might be achievable. Now you are talking my language! You better not waste that potential, get out there and try not to break a leg. That is my plan for tomorrow on the encrusted slop here!
ChattChaser
My school, U.T.C., has been delayed until 10 a.m. They must be feeling pretty confident about good driving conditions in the morning.
Windspeed
Getting heavy snow here now. I might have 2 inches on the ground. All that sleet hurt the total depth up to this point, but there is still a lot of moisture to the west. If it remains snow, I might yet squeeze 4-5" out of this storm. Sun setting has made a huge difference. We've dropped 1 degree (thank you Lord!) in last 45 minutes...sitting at 32.3 now with light sleet/snow mix

1234snow
Finally picking up heavy snow. High was 24. Still can't figure out what happened earlier. It wasn't even sleeting that hard.
Blue Ridge
Nothing but sleet with fat flakes mixed in here. Temps have remained low all day. Currently 27.
Stovepipe
Wonder when temp is going to start falling in knoxville. It is now up to 32 at my house in Cedar Springs area. Wondering the same thing, I'm sitting at 31. Anyone checked the current mesoscale products that can say where the lines are trending at this point? Radar isn't terribly encouraging for a significant backside snow hit here although local mets seem to think a few inches are possible. Would love a an inch or two on top of this. John1122
I've gotten an inch of snow since it became all snow. Had some of those goose feathers stove was talking about earlier. Probably an hour or maybe two of good precip rates to go. May squeeze out another inch or two. Currently around 4 inches of sleet/snow.

Stovepipe
This tree almost looks on fire. It's encased in ice with a street light behind it. John1122
It's just plastering down out there right now. If everyone can manage to get this post change over, look for around 2 inches at least. I've gotten around that since it changed for good.

Dude I love time lapse stuff, very cool even if it didn't pile up the way you expected. Thanks for sharing. I had visions of trying out my iphone time lapse feature on this one too but was too busy checking radar and forums to pull it off. Mine wouldn't have been very impressive anyway lol. I was lucky enough to use an iPad to do everything else. I bought a little tripod at Walgreens to set my phone on. That was my first time doing time lapse stuff. Maybe I'll get a chance this weekend to try it out again.
