sparklecity
Temp just shot up 1 degree in five minutes, only got an hour or two left of precip. Might be a situation where when the precip stops, and temps rise over night, doing a good bit of melting!? Have you looked at the radar? It extends all the way to almost the GA/AL border. JoshM
Have you looked at the radar? It extends all the way to almost the GA/AL border. It's not really moving North to South tho or we'd be in trouble. 25 and sleet fest
NCSNOW
Heavy dbz coming across 77 now. From sc to va border.
AJF0602
What I find amazing is that Wilmington is currently in the mid 40's while Jacksonville (45 mins away) is 29.8 and freezing rain here; car has a thin coat on it, all local media here said we were just going to get a cold rain. Cold Rain
Boy I did not expect the CAD to perform this well. I knew it would perform a little better than model expectations, but this is amazing, given the lack of a strong parent high in the NE. Still moderate sleet here. I'd say we're over a half inch now. That stuff is not so easy to walk on, surprisingly. I agree with you. I really didn't think we'd have precip with temps in the teens and low 20s. Pretty amazing. The precip is moving NE, but whole line moving E to SE

That stuff is not so easy to walk on, surprisingly. Never underestimate the power of saturating really dry air lol Pretty surreal scene here with so many cracking of trees outside. Glad to see the back edge of the rain but just about to get back into the heavier stuff. winds have turned out of the north now which is usually the sign of a mature self substained wedge here. Temp is at 31.2..which is about a half a degree higher than earlier. Not fast enough though.

He didn't say they would be fine, just that there is a small window for melting where travel could be possible.
MADDOGG
Been without power for hours here no wind loud booms I don't even want to see roads seem good I still have 29 but I don't believe it think it's frozen
Jon
He didn't say they would be fine, just that there is a small window for melting where travel could be possible.Oh ok he said "roads get better by 11am" so that's open for interpretation. To most people that means get in the car at 11am.

downeastnc
Radar is friggen awesome for us right now any hrs of this to go, dumping almost all sleet here instead of ZR thankfully, the wedge flexing its muscle for sure we were suppose to be all ZR and at best its 20-30% ZR the rest sleet...... Jet Stream Rider
It's moving SE at the same time, watch the back edge in TN. The precip is moving NE, but whole line moving E to SE That northwest back edge might be a saving grace for some. Its already ragged west of Danville. AJF0602
Haha nice downeast,... I bet if I was still up there going to ECU it would be all ZR right now. Currently 29/26 and ZR; i'll never underestimate a CAD again, really thought being so close to the coast WAA would easily overcome the cold like it normally does here.
