Imperium Americana
yeah this is where it stops being fun over 30,000 without power and counting. Welp...you can count me as one of them. Huge green explosion and bam...no power. Well you can cout me amongst them. Huge green fire ball
Shawn
Going outside here close to Lake Murray shows just how close we were. 35F, trying to drop slightly and sleet pellets mixing in. In fact, the trees have that certain "beaded water drop" look that slowly turns to icicles if it was cold enough of course. I expect temps to gradually try and climb from here on out, but whew it was close! NE GA, I feel for you guys. You're in a very bad spot right now and I'm not quite sure I see much help on the way for you guys unless the WAA can save you and even that is doubtful. The fact of GSP being predominantly sleet right now shows that Lookout's fears of the models being too warm were correct. In fact, the ARW simulated "frozen line" really wasn't too bad last night. Probably the best looking of the entire bunch!
frazdaddy
Some sleet but mostly zr here.
RaleighWx
Also the Triangle should not see any lulls for some time now. Radar looks great. Best upper dynamics will be moving over next 4-6 hours, so year look for moderate precip for a while.
DopplerWx
My fingers are crossed that we stay mostly sleet. I don't mind a solid glaze up to 0.25", but no power outages, please. phils sounding post earlier makes me feel better about our chances at staying mostly sleet. Scooter
Sleet still pouring down. Walked out a few minutes ago and tried to dig down to the pavement. Had to use a shovel! A very light glaze starting to show up on the branches now, so some freezing rain mixing in. It's already an ice rink here, should be even worse tomorrow morning after it's all said and done. Biggest question now is what kind of staying power will this have?
bigdog_10_2002
Moderate frz rain in Albemarle. Salt on the roads seems to be doing the trick as they are just wet.
CaryWx
zr/ip at moderate rate now. seems fairly steady

Wow
Pouring sleet here. Everything is white. About an inch of it at least. Around 1/16 to 1/8" of ZR.
Bsudweather
Temp is starting to rise here in pickens sc, up to 29 from 27.3 an hour ago. But man is it putting down some sleet! We may may not get much more in the way of ZR but this sleet could last well into the overnight hours!
JQPublic
Sleet has really picked up here at the Wake/Chatham county border (Cary). Thanks for the Charlotte obs. My fiance is over out that way (Gastown) and doesn't fully appreciate the importance of obs.
VeronicaCorningstone
Light freezing rain and sleet here. Heavier returns moving out for the moment. Nice glaze already on vehicles and limbs. Ugh.
skbl17
33 and rain all evening. The weenie part in me says this sucks, but the common sense part in me is thankful we won't have any power issues. I imagine there will be lots of black ice on the roads once we go sub 32. Prayers up for everyone to my north and east! Hope y'all get a big storm but with no power problems! A lot of lessons about model performance with a wedge in place will be learned from this storm. You and me both. The roads here are going to be bad in the morning, that's for sure.
NCSNOW
Franklin and met, did yall get any freezing rain or sleet today. So rare on the other side of the blue ridge.
burrel2
Freezing rain is finally starting to beat out Sleet here. Probably only about 20% sleet right now, and it's pouring. It's really starting to rack up on the tree's fast.
hartweather
It's bad here in Gainesville!! Trees, transformers, power, houses. Sounds like firework show outside.

kvegas-wx
Now 75-25 zr to ip here in the triad. Nice glaze on top of nearly two inches of snow/ip. As long as the power stays on, i will count this as one of the best/luckiest storms ever. Massive amounts of fun outside tonight. Sorry for those who are catching the brunt of the zr. Solak
We've only had a little scattered 'stuff' this evening. I'm really surprised that it's forming puddles on the road in front of the house, since we haven't been above freezing since Saturday night when that front blasted through. It's currently 27°/19°. DP has risen from a low of -6° earlier this afternoon. Going to be interesting overnight. Good luck to all of y'all.
WNC_Fort
Freezing rain really kicking in here now. So we had 30 minutes of snow, about 5 hours of sleet and now freezing rain
HWY316wx
I am in East Gwinnett. Parents are without power, trees and limbs down everywhere. Surprised NWS has not included Gwinnett in the warning as well as points east towards lookout. Serious problem arising in a hurry. Cherokee County has declared a local state of emergency.
