Euro 10 meter wind gust charts remain bullish. Mid 50's along 95 and the cities between 7am-1pm on sunday. 18 hour wind event. Gusts in the the mid to upper 60's on the bay. Wow.

If 850mb winds are really over 70kts as depicted by the 12z Euro, I suspect we'll reach HWW criteria, at least west of the fall line.

NAM has gusts around 50mph by 12z with 850 winds in the middle 60s kts.  And temps in the single digits.

If you got 6+ today, I bet you get double digits on Saturday. Should be great for Pres Day weekend business.

Yeah, the snow will be nice and deep, especially on the ridges where there was still close to a foot of snow on the ground before today's event.

Much better than what was around for Christmas break.

But we did actually get a cancellation for Sunday because, of all things, it is going to be "too" cold

LWX bullish on winds:

COLD AIR WILL BE ACCOMPANIED BY STRONG AND PERHAPS EVENING DAMAGING WINDS. BUFKIT SUGGESTS POTENTIAL FOR 40 TO 50 KT WINDS SATURDAY NIGHT AND INTO A PORTION OF SUNDAY. WIND ADVISORY WINDS SEEM LIKELY BUT HIGH WIND WARNING GUSTS MAY BE WITHIN THE REALM OF POSSIBILITIES ESPECIALLY OVER HIGHER ELEVATIONS.

Blizzard Watch

URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE GRAY ME
357 PM EST THU FEB 12 2015

...ANOTHER MAJOR WINTER STORM EXPECTED THIS WEEKEND...

.AS AN UPPER LEVEL ROUGH DIGS THROUGH THE GREAT LAKES ON
SATURDAY... SURFACE LOW PRESSURE WILL DEVELOP AND INTENSIFY
RAPIDLY NEAR CAPE COD SATURDAY NIGHT. SNOW IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN
DURING THE DAY SATURDAY FROM WEST TO EAST... INCREASING IN
INTENSITY SATURDAY NIGHT. BY SUNDAY MORNING HEAVY SNOW IS LIKELY
ESPECIALLY ALONG THE COAST WITH NORTHEAST WINDS STRENGTHENING. THE
COMBINATION OF HEAVY SNOW... VERY STRONG WINDS... AND AN ALREADY
EXISTING DEEP SNOW PACK WILL LIKELY LEAD TO BLIZZARD CONDITIONS IN
SOME AREAS ESPECIALLY NEAR THE COAST AND NEAR THE INTERSTATE 95
CORRIDOR IN MAINE. BLIZZARD CONDITIONS ARE POSSIBLE ACROSS A
BROADER AREA OF MAINE AND NEW HAMPSHIRE CONSIDERING A DEEP SNOW
PACK AND STRONG WINDS EXPECTED. BUT BLIZZARD WATCHES HAVE ONLY BE
POSTED FOR AREAS WITH THE GREATEST LIKELIHOOD OF SEEING BLIZZARD
CONDITIONS. SNOW IS EXPECTED TO END DURING THE DAY ON SUNDAY BUT
STRONG NORTHWEST WINDS WILL CONTINUE THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT AND
BLOWING SNOW WILL LIKELY LINGER AS WELL.

mixed emotions.....as long as it bombs and saves our azzes for next week, I'm OK with whatever falls on them

it's when they get clobbered and we end up missing that is demoralizing

It will bomb regardless I think. Slow it a little and Boston gets screwed. :P

Its the coldest forecasted WC I have seen modeled here in a long time

The coldest wind chill event I can personally identify via being in it was the early morning of the inaguration 1985, 2am, temp at my location -5, winds sustained at 20 with frequent gusts to 30. On the old wind chill chart I think the gusts were like -55.

Every model gives us more than .05 with most models around .10. Should make for an interesting obs thread.
