09-10 analogy
This was just so damn cool. Give me three or four hours of this and it would turn out to be a decent winter. What I most lament about DC snow climatology isn't so much the erratic accumulations -- after all I've had 6 12"+ snowstorms since 2003, one every two years ain't so bad -- but the kind of snow/wind combo I just experienced ... that's just not a common thing in DC. The only one of those six storms that really ranked in terms of visibility was 2.9.10, and I believe the winds were stronger with this event. Atleast here in HoCo, winds didnt kick up till after the heaviest was just about done. It fell pretty uniformly for quite some time.
MN Transplant
where are you measuring? not that i don't believe just seems it's awful windy for accurate stuff. It is actually heavy and wet.
