LongBeachSurfFreak
Park steady at 5, let's see how much more drop we have left. If the CAA has already peaked it's possible it stays at 5 or even rises slightly in which case I was right!!! 5 on feb 15th is still nuts
EasternLI
There sure are some cold 850's in NYS
Hailstorm
Damnit! So we won't make it below 0*F because of a lack of snow cover... What a shame, especially when suburban areas are still dropping. From here on out, our temp will climb throughout the night as ironic as it may seem. Like SnowGoose was saying, lows even like this from Feb 15th on are fairly rare. Looks like Boston is going below 0, we were keeping pace with them but they're at 2 now. Juliancolton
Leveling off at around -2 for now. Meh... still have a long way to go before it starts getting memorable.
donsutherland1
Its remarkable when I looked at the record lows the other day how after 2/15 they jump, very few sub zero lows after that, even many not below 5 or 6. I agree. The records seem to reflect the seasonal rise in temperatures that typically is underway at this time of year.

I was looking at the '94 outbreak earlier today. That was really an incredible cold out break. It was in the -30s in KENTUCKY.

LongBeachSurfFreak
At least the CAA cranked early and we walk with two days of 5 in almost late February. Had it been early January and we had gotten 3" of powder it would easily has gone below

Hailstorm
4 in the park now. So now since 850s have reached a peak low, we're relying on whatever radiational cooling we can muster plus some wind component to hopefully drop us down closer to zero? I need to see -10 before I consider this a win Your cold nights will never coincide with NYC because you are relying on radiational cooling whereas they need windy CAA. Saw this last winter when most suburban areas had coldest night on January 4 but it was January 7 that Central Park reached its winter minimum of 4F.
