During the 16-day period running from 1/26 through 2/10, Boston has picked up 66.4" snow. Some comparisons have been made to the Great Snow of 1717. Another period of comparison is March 1-16, 1772. Of that period, Edward Perkins Sparkhawk of Lynnfield, MA wrote the following in his diary:

An amazing quantity of snow fell in the month of March, such as I never knew in the time that I have lived.

Total snowfall came to 59":

March 5: 16"

March 9: 9"

March 11: 8"

March 13: 7"

March 16: 4"

March 20: 15"
