Some comparisons have been made to the Great Snow of 1717. Another period of comparison is March 1-16, 1772. Of that period, Edward Perkins Sparkhawk of Lynnfield, MA wrote the following in his diary: An amazing quantity of snow fell in the month of March, such as I never knew in the time that I have lived.
