You have to admit its been a very exciting winter and as severe a 25 day stretch in terms of cold and snow as one is likely to see around here. dbc
It's multiple pieces of guidance strongly showing a huge shift in the teleconnections and the overall long wave synoptic pattern Doesn't change the fact that it is all 10+ day guidance. At the same run tomorrow there's a good chance all guidance will show the exact opposite and if it is not all of the guidance, some of it will which completely disintegrates any consensus you are seeing today. Guest Pamela
One needs to exerrcise great caution when one levels an accusation. I remember when I was in Paris during the summer of 1794...the so called height of The Reign of Terror...Robespierre was in the midst of levelling accusations at virtually everyone...and people were being guillotined in downtown Paris at the rate of 20 to 30 per day...well, it was now July...the start of the month of Thermidor (they gave new names to the months after the monarchy was toppled)...and Robespierre was giving a speech on the floor of the Assembly...hinting that more accusations...and, by implication, executions...were forthcoming. Only this time, many to bite the dust would be members of the Assembly themselves. Well, those who were on the verge of being accused (which meant a quick trip to the cutting block) knew they had no time to lose...so that night, at a dinner club...while Robespierre was giving another speech...his enemies arrested *him*....and he was guillotined the next morning. After that, there was a return to so called "normalcy"...to quote a malaprop of Harding's more than a century hence...the executions stopped...and gradually, things returned to normal in Paris...though what would be known forever as the Thermidorian Reaction was indelibly etched into the history books... SRRTA22
The things I always look for when thinking major I-95 snowstorm besides obviously a deep dome of cold air, Atlantic/Arctic side: -NAO, -AO, 50/50 low to setup confluence/CAD, strong high or banana high up in Canada that's anchored with the 50/50, Pacific side: +PNA, -EPO, MJO in a favorable phase (not a must but it's extra security). If any of those things are lacking, I become very suspect... I seriously can't wait for severe wx season .. My head is going to explode Lol
