Its right around 060 on the GFS, thats the cutoff usually, anything from that and east changes over but I've seen the GFS show an 060 wind many times that verifies at 030

I've lived here 26 years at least 15 times, snow change to train setups have failed to materialize or rain no snow,etc...not saying your wrong but just saying so far this year, I've been respectfully co lder then forecast.. last Monday saw 3/4 inch of ice alone

What'd NYC-area get in that storm anyway?

Central Park had 11.4", I had about 12". 30 miles east of me was where the huge totals started ramping up, especially towards the North Shore. I drove out there the day after and the scenes out by Huntington (Nassau/Suffolk border on the north shore) and east were incredible.

Snowgoose69. What do you think will be the ultimate outcome in western Long Island you think Upton goes with a winter weather advisory or a winter storm warning for ice!! Obviously were not getting 6" of snow....

I think it's mostly sleet with a few hours of freezing rain but not enough to be damaging. Given the low confidence on sleet vs freezing rain I don't Upton will go ice storm warning. Very tricky call for them on winter weather advisory vs warning, don't be surprised if they go with a watch and decide at 4pm.

There is soo much blocking with this system that everything will have the appearance of going in slow motion...with the boundary between snow and ice so very close to the CWA...it is an absolute forecast nightmare for Upton...and the whole thing may still be lingering on Tuesday...very complex situation developing...as I am watching the factors gather.
