Pacific NW/Northern California Storm February 3rd-8th, 2015

Srain

The ensembles and dynamical guidance are in good agreement that one of the strongest storms of the winter season will impact British Columbia, Washington, Oregon and Northern California. A potent Gulf of Alaska low is pumping up rich tropical moisture from near Hawaii suggesting some impressive QPF in the 15+ inch range may be possible into the weekend. The zonal flow should benefit areas that sorely need some moisture and will certainly ease the severe drought across portions of Northern California and possibly end the dry streak that San Francisco experienced with no rainfall for the month of January. Snow totals may be impressive for the higher elevations and the WPC has already placed a Slight Risk of Excessive Rainfall for Day 3 across portions of Northern California.

Winds have been crazy here.  Over 130 mph on Mt Bachelor last night.  Talked to some folks at the Lowes in Bend today picking up supplies for their home out in the high plateau and they said it was crazy last night. Trees down all over, neighbor's RV blown over and several building blow to pieces.
