Isotherm
ok maybe it's right...40 years ago I would have gone there and measured it myself...not now at my age lol... Being in the woods makes a huge difference in terms of retention, which I'm guessing it is. Around here, there's 4-8" in the woods, and only a couple inches in the open. NorthShoreWx
An even dozen cousin. Note the unbridled optimism of the 54"+ snow stake contrasted with the snowboard with a quarter inch of sleet on it.
IsentropicLift
There must be a ton of water in the pack. If we get a big rain storm it gonna flood.
NorthShoreWx
There must be a ton of water in the pack. If we get a big rain storm it gonna flood. Not too insane here. Maybe 3" or a tad more. We had twice that in 2011 and it melted harmlessly away,

JERSEYSNOWROB
Anyone know where the snowpack ends down the parkway? I would assume about exit 100-110? I don't know for sure but I would say it's around the I-195 corridor somewhere along the Monmouth/Ocean County border around exit 98.
JBG
I have about 2-3" left...Central Park is still reporting 8" as of this morning...LGA reported 3" this morning...Central Park has been stuck on 8" for a week now...That can't be right?...Hard to stick a ruler into a glacier. I am guestimating about a 5" pack where I am but measuring would be tough, especially with drifting before it froze with the ice/rain.

Isotherm
3 in protected areas 1 or 2 in sunny spots We're in the same boat. Pretty much identical scenario here, though there are some 4-6" areas where drifting occurred.

LongBeachSurfFreak
Packs wasting away here slowly but surely. More grass everyday. Snow just doesn't last in sunny spots at 40n in mid February if you aren't replenishing it. The crazy thing is we did much much better here then manhattan in the blizzard but have half the snow pack currently
Nibor
Snow depths are pretty wide ranging here depending on where the sun hits. Some spots are around 4 some spots are around 10.
SnoSki14
Snowpack starting to get that dirty look so a refresher would be nice. Agreed that some spots especially away from the sun are fully covered and those in direct sunlight are less. We've had a few above freezing days like today for example that have affected those sun facing spots more. I'm sure the sun angle is beginning to play a greater role in melting and certainly will in the next 2 weeks.
