Drz1111
I live 2 blocks from Central Park, and if we got only 2.5" of snow, I'm a ostrich. What a joke.
IsentropicLift
I mentioned about this yesterday but got pounced on by some posters for wishcasting. I said a few inches for NYC before turning to sleet and freezing rain. No plain rain. And I admit that I was wrong. The modeling yesterday had the city in the mid-30's right now. Clearly that was way too warm.
uncle W
It was definitely not 5, 4.3 or 4.4 roughly If we get another inch in the park it will effect the record... my temperature is stuck on 32.2 with light rain...
IsentropicLift
RAP has NYC/LI back to snow by 1pm. NAM by 2pm. Yeah I think the damage will be done by then with freezing rain and temps in the 20's.
ag3
27 degrees here now in Northern Queens. Well over .10" of ice accrued after 5.2" of snow.
Joe4alb
Temps out here were forecast to be rising close to 40. I am sitting at 33.1 and slowing dropping. Was 33.6 only 15 min ago.
Computer Guy
not sure who or what is measuring in CP. I walked through the park this morning and just from eye balling, it was about 4 inches.
ag3
Wasn't the park measurement from 5:00am? I doubt it will remain that low once the next report comes out.
FreeRain
Looks like almost 4 inches of snow fell here with some sleet falling after 5am. I'm not sure if it ever turned into plain rain here. 29 degrees and freezing rain now. I don't recall ever having plain rain flip over to freezing rain if that's what happened. MJO812
And I admit that I was wrong. The modeling yesterday had the city in the mid-30's right now. Clearly that was way too warm. The models kept showing the surface line right near the city despite the 850s being warm. A little wobble with this storm will do the trick and that's what is happening. The low level cold air is being stubborn to leave.
IsentropicLift
If you were thinking about waiting until later to clear your driveway or sidewalk, don't wait. This sleet and freezing rain will add a lot of weight and make it very difficult on your snowblower if you own one. I had to go into work today so I'll have to deal with it tonight once everything freezes up solid.

I had my posts deleted. It's all good. The CAD and 50/50 won out. Models blew.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Boreal
Snowing again now in far East Central PA, Bangor, Pa. The upper levels are supporting snow at that latitude in an eastward fashion.
chietanen
NWS had a low of 20 for my point and click last night and I ended up bottoming out at 9 degrees. Definitely appears that the low level cold wasn't modeled well. Currently 12 degrees with light snow and sleet. Occasionally get some heavier bursts where it's mostly snow.
