Armonk area heavy ice

Snow, freezing rain, and sleet before 4pm, then a chance of snow. The freezing rain and snow could be heavy at times. Temperature rising to near 32 by 11am, then falling to around 23 during the remainder of the day. Wind chill values between 10 and 20. Northeast wind 10 to 15 mph becoming north in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime ice accumulation of 0.4 to 0.6 of an inch possible. Total daytime snow and sleet accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

the north shore of li could be in for a worse ice storm than expected...ive been at 32 degrees for over an hour now and it hasnt budged

5 inches in  Laurel Hollow . Freezing rain up here and 30 .  The entire Island will go back over to snow by 11am The 850s will swing back through .

The surface will probably  be back below freezing by 10 am just away from the S shore .

Same here in Western Nassau. 33.8 with only about an inch of slop left here and melting.

We'll have to clean up anything remaining before the flash freeze later on.

KNYC just went to 31 LGA 30 .

Your surface may have topped . The N shore is freezing rain . The ground is frozen .

NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 PM THIS EVENING/...

SLEET/FREEZING RAIN ACROSS MUCH OF LONG ISLAND...AND PRECIP

CHANGING TO RAIN/FREEZING RAIN/SLEET INTO NYC AND METRO NJ. WILL

CONVERT WINTER STORM WARNINGS FOR THOSE AREAS TO WINTER WEATHER

ADVISORIES. TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATION...INCLUDING ADDITIONAL SNOW

LATER THIS AFTERNOON...WILL GENERALLY AVERAGE 3-5 INCHES...LESS

CLOSER TO THE SHORES. ONLY EXCEPTION WILL BE THE BRONX...WHERE 4-8

INCHES OF SNOW IS EXPECTED. WILL KEEP WINTER STORM WARNING UP

THERE. IN ADDITION TO THE SNOW...ICING WILL OCCUR DUE TO THE

FREEZING RAIN.

FOR THE REST OF THE FORECAST AREA...SFC TEMPS WILL STAY BELOW

FREEZING...AND WILL TRACK HOW FAR NORTH WARM AIR ALOFT WILL LIFT.

PRECIP SHOULD STAY AS ALL SNOW FOR NORTHERN PORTIONS OF ORANGE AND

PUTNAM COUNTIES...WHERE UP TO A FOOT OF SNOW IS LIKELY. FOR THE

REST OF THE LOWER HUDSON VALLEY...SOUTHERN CT...AND INTERIOR

PORTIONS OF NE NJ...PRECIP WILL CHANGE TO A WINTRY MIX OF SLEET

AND FREEZING RAIN BY EARLY AFTERNOON. 6 TO 10 INCHES OF SNOW IS

LIKELY...AS WELL AS 1/4 TO 1/2 INCH OF ICE FOR THOSE AREAS.

FOR NYC/METRO NJ/WESTERN LONG ISLAND...UP TO 1/10 INCH ICE IS

LIKELY.

PRECIP CHANGES TO A WINTRY MIX LATER THIS AFTERNOON...AND THEN

PRECIP THROUGHOUT CHANGES BACK TO ALL SNOW BEFORE TAPERING OFF BY

THIS EVENING. SOME ADDITIONAL SNOW IS POSSIBLE BEFORE IT ENDS.

Amazing how the euro was the only model to show this happening ;)

You guys up there have made out really well!  It's a sloppy mess down here by me, gonna be a lot of salt getting dropped down on the roads later this afternoon.  I think in some places they've already used up as much salt as last year due to the little dink and dunk 1-2 inch events on top of the more heavier events.

Hopefully we can get another significant snowfall in the next few weeks.
