WestCoaster
They all closed on feb 2013. This is nothing near Feb 2013. That system had I think ~ 8 hours of straight +SN reports from YYZ? Not to mention 35 cm dump (a good 10-15 cm over what we'll see from this storm) which didn't wind up until late day.
snowstormcanuck
They all closed on feb 2013. Maybe in Peel but I'm almost certain schools stayed open in Toronto during Feb 2013.
Snowstorms
http://weather.gc.ca/radar/index_e.html?id=wkr Pretty visible deformation band setting up just north of the city atm. Hopefully it can drift south some. Its certainly creating some heavy snow conditions here.

Doubt universities will be closed. But public/catholic schools...maybe.

snowstormcanuck
Nice to hear things ramping up upstream. Visibility is poor here (say 800m) but flake size still isn't creating efficient accums. I'd say it's about 1cm/hr type rates right now. Probably about 5cm down. Toronto4
All Toronto schools were closed on February 2, 2011 during the GHD storm that never fully materialized. 8-12" of snow was forecast, but only 5" fell. Mind you, the boards made the decision to close the day before.
snowstormcanuck
Nope. All colleges and universities were closed that day. Misunderstanding here. By schools I thought we were talking about primary and secondary schools.

blizzardof96
Flake size taking a noticeable jump now. Much more accumulation friendly. EDIT: EC radar lagging so I'm assuming that york region band is drifting south
WestCoaster
My winds REALLY picked up. Easily gusting to 60 km/h. This storm just got interesting.

WestCoaster
FYI, I measured the snow water content. Probably some error to it as always, but ratio looks to be about 9:1 from the stuff fallen so far.
snowstormcanuck
Even elementary and secondary schools were closed. Don't think so. Not in Toronto. But this is hardly worth the effort debating.

Snowstorms
Snapped a quick photo from my front door and the pole (I took it earlier). Sorry they aren't clear. I will take more tomorrow. Its coming down heavily atm. Just measured 8.8cm.
WestCoaster
Flake size hasn't changed much for me. Rates are still light-moderate, more on the moderate side I guess. Winds are the bigger story for me. Some pretty impressive drifting given only about 5 cm down here.
blizzardof96
Seems to be holding pretty steady state. Im right on the southern periphery of the band so its a mix of pixie dust/larger plates. It seems to be moving in an W-E direction right between the 401 and 407.
on_wx
10" in St. Clair County, Michigan bordering Lambton County. My grandpa lives about 10km south of Sarnia and just called to say he's completely snowed in

It seems to be moving in an W-E direction right between the 401 and 407. It's been coming down quite moderately to at times heavy for the past 2 hours in my area. Will likely hit that 10cm mark by 1am. Nice flake size as well with slightly lighter winds now.

snowstormcanuck
Getting close to calling it a night and seeing if things improve around 4am. Even if we maintain this 1 cm/hr type snow the rest of the way (which is very unlikely), should still yield totals north of 15cm.
