KeithB
Yeah, it seems persistence forecasting is the way to go this winter. As the low-level winds veer to southwesterly mid-event there's gonna be some downsloping to the lee of the Catskills (as some of us know all too well), but I've never seen it verify anything like the NAM is proposing. Are you throwing out the gfs on this storm like so many are? I am inclined to think that so many people are throwing it out due to it having a solution that most do not want
KeithB
Yeah, I used to use stormvista but wxbell has it beat IMO. Cool...ty

Juliancolton
In my experience, wxbell is rather slow to roll out model frames. Levi's NCEP maps are usually 10 minutes ahead of wxbell's, and I'm usually barely getting to init by the time people are posting "Mother of God" on a 78-hour Euro solution... lol. The flashy, high-res graphics are sort of my guilty pleasure, but I wouldn't pay for more than a couple months' service every year.

chietanen
Same here. I pay for WxBell from like December through March, then I use free sites like Tropical Tidbits or Weather.cod. WxBell has a lot of nice products, but as JC said, it's agonizingly slow.

UlsterCountySnowZ
Dude, what are you talking about in the storm thread that if that map verified you wouldn't get any snow? The snow map on the rgem has about a 15+ mile wide random snow hole with no accumulation in parts of ulster
UlsterCountySnowZ
See lol... It's obviously incorrect but I was just saying

And I believe it does show an inch or two even in the snow hole.

DRVTS
I know it's kind of borderline snows, but 1-3 and 3-5 today and tonight. Why not WSW? I mean Sat evenings are busy. Advisory just doesnt sound bad enough to the average person, then they go out to dinner and get hit fast and hard.

Calm is incredible though, doesnt feel terrible out. It's not as bad when it's calm, it's still cold but doesn't bite quite as much. chietanen
-3.5 here. Looking at the PWS observations, definitely a microclimate type of night. Very wide range of temperatures over short distances. Some stations are near -10 while others nearby are as much as 15-20 degrees warmer.

Animal
Good day weather fans, Current temp is 8F. Low was zero. WWA for 4-6 inches. My benchmark for the event is 4 inches. Not sure how this storm plays out but I am not very confident we hit the 6 inch mark. Best.
