Upton update...

LOW PRES OVER THE OH VALLEY CONTINUES TO TRACK EAST THIS MORNING
AND WILL PASS SOUTH OF LONG ISLAND LATER TODAY. MODERATE TO
LOCALLY HEAVY SNOW CONTINUES TO FALL ACROSS THE AREA...BUT WARMER
AIR WILL NOSE ITS WAY INTO FAR SOUTHEAST PORTIONS OF THE CWA PRIOR
TO DAYBREAK. THIS WILL ALLOW SNOW TO CHANGE TO FREEZING RAIN
INITIALLY...AS SFC TEMPS WILL BE SLOW TO WARM ABOVE FREEZING WHILE
850 MB TEMPS WARM TO +3C. BY 7AM-9AM...TEMPS ACROSS METROPOLITAN
NJ...NYC...AND LONG ISLAND SHOULD BE ABOVE FREEZING...AND PLAIN
RAIN...POSSIBLY HEAVY AT TIMES...WILL FALL.

FOR THE REST OF THE FORECAST AREA...SFC TEMPS WILL STAY BELOW
FREEZING...AND WILL TRACK HOW FAR NORTH WARM AIR ALOFT WILL LIFT.
PRECIP SHOULD STAY AS ALL SNOW FOR NORTHERN PORTIONS OF ORANGE AND
PUTNAM COUNTIES...WHERE UP TO A FOOT OF SNOW IS LIKELY.
FOR THE
REST OF THE LOWER HUDSON VALLEY...SOUTHERN CT...AND INTERIOR
PORTIONS OF NE NJ...PRECIP WILL CHANGE TO A WINTRY MIX OF SLEET
AND FREEZING RAIN BY EARLY AFTERNOON. 6 TO 10 INCHES OF SNOW IS
LIKELY...AS WELL AS 1/4 TO 1/2 INCH OF ICE FOR THOSE AREAS.

FOR NYC/METRO NJ/WESTERN LONG ISLAND...ANYWHERE FROM 3 TO 7 INCHES
OF SNOW WILL FALL WITH THE HIGHEST TOTALS AWAY FROM THE OCEAN
COAST. FOR EASTERN LONG ISLAND...SNOWFALL TOTALS WILL RANGE FROM 2
TO 4 INCHES. UP TO 1/10 INCH ICE IS LIKELY IN THESE AREAS AS WELL.

ANY RAIN CHANGES TO A WINTRY MIX LATE...AND THEN PRECIP THROUGHOUT
CHANGES BACK TO ALL SNOW BEFORE TAPERING OFF BY THIS EVENING. SOME
ADDITIONAL SNOW IS POSSIBLE BEFORE IT ENDS.

SNOW/ICE WILL MAKE THE MORNING COMMUTE FAIRLY TREACHEROUS...
ESPECIALLY FOR UNTREATED SURFACES.

About 7" new here when I was out at 8 am, light snow and 12 degrees. It looks like the radar is trying to fill in a little over eastern PA but I'm not sure how the rest of the day will evolve. One thing that really impressed me was the cold air. I was at 25 degrees when it started snowing around 11 pm, and my temperature dropped to as low as 9 overnight.
