In regards to cold this winter is gonna go out with a bang. Naturally temps moderate in March so I don't see what the issue is. Also patterns never ever break down overnight so once models start picking it up in 2 week or so then look for it to be delayed an additional 2 weeks. Almost always the case. I see cold & snow in our future for at least another 4 weeks. If you enjoy winter than today is your day! relax..

How dare you bring a sensible argument like that to the table.

I'm afraid it's going to be like last winter. It stayed cold (sorta) but once the snow stopped that was it. I'd like to have a winter that actually rolls right up to the end rather than just fizzles out.

It could be but no one knows for sure. No one ever knows for sure let alone with how the models have been this season. I can tell ya that I start to get into spring mode around March 1 but it's up to Old Man Winter to decide when he's packing his bags.

As far as today there have been a few accidents, including at least one rollover, around here due to the blowing snow.

Linked the euro weeklies for you in the banter thread

I was the one who questioned you about it, and I disagree that they look bad. The first two weeks are impressively cold. Towards the beginning of March, there are some signs that the ridge in the west may start to break down, but they also show signals of a more persistent negative AO and NAO, so I'm not sure that means warm (in fact, if you just look at the temperature anomaly in general, it's still below normal through all 4 weeks). In any event, if you've been following all winter, you know the long range modeling has mostly sucked anyways. The weeklies had us getting a major January thaw about 2 weeks before hand. We all know how that turned out.

I really have a feeling that most people would be enjoying this winter a lot more if Boston didn't have 4 feet of snow on the ground.

:axe: man, the Negative Nancies are really starting to take the fun out of tracking. The whole "I bet New England gets a blizzard while we get a UV index of 10" spiel is really starting to get on my nerves.... I've never seen so many bitter and jealous people in my life. I'm not looking for blind optimism by any means, but this is getting silly.

Oh well, back on topic. This cold means business... 15F on a sunny afternoon in the second half of February is pretty impressive.

I was about 5 mins behind a nasty rollover on 17 near the chester flats around 1230pm today. Road was clear next thing you know the highway is 6" deep in snow.
