michsnowfreak
So yesterday I bundled up and went hiking at Oakwood Metropark. It was cold, but that deep blue sky, deep, bright white glittery snow, & nature really felt like I was up north. Took some pics I will post later. I always loved winter as a kid, but that winter doesn't exist anymore lol. Year after year we are getting winters far beyond what we should. First it was all about heavy snow, now the last two years hains been brutal cold added to the mix. If/when we ever DO revert back to normal winters, it will be a shock to the system. And I dont mean have like 5 snowy winters, 1 paltry winter, then 5 more snowy winters lol. I mean actually reverting back to normal
Baum
A couple models (gem, uk) are amping up the Wednesday clipper and tracking a good bit northeast of the nam and gfs. The Euro is in between. Tonight's ggem has 0.60" qpf in Cedar Rapids, the UK 0.40". Both would be several inches of fluffy snow. If it tracks farther sw we may only get an inch. Update: The 00z Euro is now on board the farther northeast, juiced-up track... now showing 0.40" here like the UK. Yeah. This thing has sneaky written all over it. SchaumburgStormer
Just trying to get caught up after spending a week in the hospital (was involved in a horrific wreck on I88). Liking the look of the sneaky clipper tomorrow to give us a nice refresher.

beavis1729
I echo those thoughts, SchaumburgStormer. I hope you are ok. Another sign of the cold February: 1st February without a 28 degree temperature at DuluthEvery February, since weather records began at Duluth in 1875, has recorded a high temperature of at least 28 degrees for the entire month. February 2015 will probably not achieve this feat as the highest temperature so far this month is 27 degrees reported on the 9th.
michsnowfreak
Deep winter remains here.... Sun is normally a snowpacks enemy starting around this time of year, but with it so cold, it only acted to beautify it yesterday. (more pics in pic thread). Powerball
Pretty impressive snow squall along the I-96 corridor in Michigan (30-35 DBZs on radar). It's hauling ass too. I'm betting it either weakens before getting here or eases by just to my SW, but it definitely seems like pure bliss within the band... http://msutoday.msu.edu/webcams/webcam01.html

Geos
Glad your your ok and pulling through Sch. Stormer! It was kinda of cool earlier; fat dendrite flakes were falling with hazy sunny skies. Since then a solid overcast has built in with temps in the upper teens.
cyclone77
DVN has us down to -12 tomorrow night, and -10 Friday night now. Both would be colder than the previous cold snaps. Pretty impressive for almost March. Snow depth was a crusty 5" or so before this new stuff started falling, so we'll have a deep base of snow which should maximize the cold the next few days. SchaumburgStormer
hope you get well quickly. Was it weather related? No, but the temps did play a part in my rescue. I was stopped in traffic, due to an accident a bit further up the road, when I was hit from behind by a semi at highway speed. Completely mangled my vehicle, necessitating a 45 minute extrication. Unfortunately, the low temps caused my body temp to plummet during the extrication. So I was airlifted from the scene, and got to the hospital with a body temp of 96. So put me on the warmista wagon for the near future Week long hospital stay with a surgery, and I am back home with a long recovery in front of me. Don't have much to do currently, so keep up the board chatter to keep me entertained.

stormtrackertf
Pretty amazing that we'll most likely end up with at least 10" of snow on the ground in Detroit for the entire month of February outside of half of February 1st.

stormtrackertf
Fixed your post Its never happened before on record, now its happened in consecutive years. That's even better. It's even more amazing when you think that we "only" got less than 27" of snow during the month and almost half of it is still on the ground. cyclone77
Summary for here. Very cold month on the average. Actual cold wasn't too exciting until the very end of the month. Highlight of the month was the 15" snow on the 1st.
Hoosier
Guess I'll put this here Meteorological winter temperature departures. Overall, winter was not as cold as last winter in the Midwest (thanks mild December) and the cold was centered farther east this time.
