hawkeye_wx
Wow McCook Nebraska is baking at 80 degrees. They were 67 the hour before that so curious to see how high they reach. 90? Yeah, big-time torching out in the western plains. Several spots in Kansas are in the low 80s again as well. North Platte, NE got a combined twelve inches of snow from the last two systems and even they are 70 degree this afternoon. It's appears next to impossible to keep snow on the ground out there for more than a few days. Really, only the places that got significant snow from the Superbowl storm have anything left. Even nw IA, western MN, and the Dakotas are mostly snow-free. We made it into the low to mid 40s this afternoon, which has helped clean up the snow & ice-packed pavement. The rest of the snow should stick around for a while.
michsnowfreak
I had 16" yesterday morning and am down to 13" now. The melting wasnt too bad however the snow is like deep cement now. With such deep wet snow you could make the biggest fort imaginable right now. It was cloudy today with a brief glimpse of sun. High at DTW 39. Tomorrow should have low clouds and maybe light fog all day. Sun is no worry, but the dewpoints should creep up for a bit. About 24 more hours of possible snow loss then we are good for a glacier for foreseeable future, and every little refresher will help.

DaveNay
With such deep wet snow you could make the biggest fort imaginable right now. I just spent two hours on the tractor with the front end loader building a huge pile so that my son can do exactly that!
Chinook
I heard it got to 40 on the "glacier" of Toledo. The GFS and NAM seem to have a hard time figuring out the high temps for that area when there's a warmup, with snowpack >1". GFS and NAM said something like 34 as a high. SpartyOn
Decent melting and compaction today. Tomorrow should really accelerate that process.

KokomoWX
We are still at 45 through the overnight. I enjoyed the Indy AFD where they mention they learned a lesson yesterday to not underestimate the WAA when forecasting today's temps. I breaking out the bicycle for a nice trail ride this morning. Whitelakeroy
Thankfully it didn't get as bad as the NAM was showing IMBY temp wise. My snow pack compacted some but melting was minor. Temps were near freezing all night. Got to 35 for a couple hours this morning and should now fall as winds are NE and increasing.
Chicago WX
Big time overachiever here today. 51˚ at LAF at noon, 54˚ on my thermometer...can we get to 60˚? Windows open, birds chirping, not a trace of snow left...Spring has sprung in central Indiana.

Temps were near freezing all night. Got to 35 for a couple hours this morning and should now fall as winds are NE and increasing. Didn't lose much of anything here. The only thing it did was loosen up that crust thats on the driveway. I was able to shovel that away and temps are starting to crash. Still about a Foot OTG. Inch of snow tonight would great. Not holding my breath.

Temps were near freezing all night. Got to 35 for a couple hours this morning and should now fall as winds are NE and increasing. It was definitely quite the gradient across the state. It only made it up to around freezing here yesterday with the wind staying east. It stayed around 32F all night then the NE wind picked up early this morning and it's all the way down to the low to mid 20s already now and spitting ice pellets/snow. michsnowfreak
Temp plummetting. Light freezing rain and sleet falling. DTW maxed at 43F today. Doing a core sample to see how much water content in the snow....we probably lost very little water in the snowpack (the puddles are most likely from the huge snowbanks)....the deep snow lay atop frozen ground. Snow depth is on average 10-11" of glacier which is already starting to freeze (since I have to pick a number I will go with 10"...10-11" are the most common numbers, the low spots coming in at 7-9" and the high spots 12-14"). Any refreshers atop the glacier this week will look nice, as we wait for a potential big storm later in Feb.
weatherbo
14 degrees with moderate lake effect. 6" since 8 am today and MQT just updated for an additional 3-4" tonight. should catch a break Monday before tue/thur delivers another round. LONG LIVE WINTER!
cyclone77
Made it to 41 here today. Our fresh and very deep snow pack from earlier in the week is now down to about 6" of grungy looking snow. All the remaining snow fell off the trees in the last several days and gave much of the snow pack a lumpy look to it. I still can't believe how unbelievable the landscape looked around here for several days. Never seen so much snow caked to the trees like that. Definitely a once in a lifetime event, and may end up at the top of my all time favorite weather events at home at least.
Powerball
As far as the nice-looking fantasy range storm the GFS and GGEM are showing, it's unlikely that IF anything happens, it ends up being a MSP special with the -EPO and the still (albeit weakening) +PNA that are progged. Yet, it probably won't be too suppressed with the +NAO and +AO that's progged... Sp potential's without a doubt there for something interesting. I will say the time frame around the 22nd has been active aroud here (Detroit) lately, so there's that going for us also.
weatherbo
nearing the foot mark for the day and its still pouring snow. MQT recorded 9.2 which actually was a record for todays date. radar looks hot still so maybe another 3-4 fluffy inches by morning.

weatherbo
total has been 12.5", and it briefly cleared out last night but has filled back in with a north flow snow. thinking another 8-10" late tomorrow through Thursday morning.
hawkeye_wx
I did not expect our dense snow to melt so quickly. We hit the mid 40s Saturday and 40 yesterday and now at least half the snow is gone. My backyard only has a few inches left.
