stormtrackertf
The darkish sky looks rather ominous as the sun fully sets with the contrast of basically stark white...everywhere.
Louieloy102
That band running through Chicago is a thing of beauty, and it's basically locked in over the same corridor. Can't wait to see some of the totals out of there. Currently in that band (in Northbrook) and it's ripping out here. Guesstimates say around 13.5", but this is getting hard to measure with the high gusts.

Gilbertfly
14.4" at 5:00pm .... admittedly the winds are making the measurements a little trickier...so that's an average from a few of the "safer" spots... drifts exceeding 3' now in favored areas.... a couple power flickers the last 15 minutes

Geos
Just shoveled for almost 2 hours. Keeping up with fairly well. 11.7" was on the snowboard, but that's only an estimate. Snow depths vary between 2.5' and grass blades showing in a few spots. Saw this report nearby. Sounds reasonable given the intensity of the snow this afternoon. 0425 PM HEAVY SNOW ZION 42.46N 87.84W02/01/2015 E13.0 INCH LAKE IL PUBLICSTORM TOTAL RELAYED VIA TWITTER.
