Chicago WX
35˚ and light rain, so that'll do it here for this storm. Could have been worse I guess.
mjwise
Snow is steadily increasing in intensity. Real nice band starting to roll into Wayne and Washtenaw county. We're actually outpacing the 9Z and 3Z SREFs so far at DTW - mean for 18Z was ~3" and they were already past that. Let it roll!
RobertSul
Seeing a lot of people driving out on the road by my house. Definitely doesn't seem to be a sense of urgency.
Gilbertfly
Storm feels like it's kicking into high gear. Right around ~9" with SN borderline +SN. Should easily hit 12". That stuff in central will county might go right overhead for you....gotta be some baller rates in that

cyclone77
Just pouring snow out there. Both MLI and DVN had over 10" as of noon. Considering a good portion of this snow was around or even <10:1 this is extremely impressive. This snow is gonna have some serious staying power as dense as it is. Kaner88
Approaching 11" here, close to O'Hare. Pretty low visibility, haven't seen a plow truck all morning. Roads are still horrible.
Baum
Deformation band setting up just north of Chicago. Sweet spot looks to be north central Illinois more so than Chicago. I think anyone in the Chicago metro is in the sweet spot...unless were going to quibble about who got 10" and who got 16".
dmc76
Definitely doing better in the Detroit area than anticipated ATP

mjwise
16" or bust. I'll settle for 13" at DTW. The 17Z RAP still has 0.9-1" QPF to come across Detroit metro area over next 18 hours. That's only counting from noon on.
weathergy
Closing in at 5" here in Taylor. Pouring small flakes here. I would guess it's between 1/2" and 1/4" mile visibilities here. Good stuff so far.

Thunder Road
We're definitely getting a drier snow now too. Sfc temp per our tower is down to 30.4 F, from 31.1 less than an hour ago. Visibility has dropped pretty significantly in the last 20-30 mins too and we're starting to see some blowing snow.

Polar Vortex 2014
KIND thermometer broken? Reporting 31 and light rain. At least 2 degrees colder than any other site in a 75 mile radius, except for KLAF at 32.
geddyweather
Do or die here in NWO. Heavier snow has started back up here, but the temp needs to get below 32 for it to shed the mixing problems. Crossing fingers we come away with something meaningful.
Thundersnow12
You could make a case the LOT radar loop right now does look like GHD, obviously not as heavy as returns, banding, but how it's playing out/moving reminds me of it.
