Brewers
7.6" here. Drought it over. Lost a large limb in the back tree. Trees are caked in wet snow. May lose power at some point. Congrats man! The wet snow looks sweet, I'm a bit jealous.
A-L-E-K
Hair under 6" here with over 1" in the last hour. Winds ramping up (but still nowhere near GHD) so measuring for me becomes difficult from here on out. Congrats on breaking through the barrier Cyclone, hope you can tack on a few more. Brewers
I know its radar time now but wow on the 12z Nam for Chicago lakeshore counties http://www.instantweathermaps.com/NAM-php/showmap-conussfc.php?run=2015020112&time=PER&var=ASNOWI&hour=030 Still another 0.7-0.9" of qpf to go on both the 12km and 4km NAM across far SE WI and NE IL. Snowstorms
Decided to do something different with this storm. So I found an empty Pot in my garage, which happens to resemble the Nipher, and I've decided to do an experiment. I'm going to measure the snow with this system in two methods. One, the old fashioned way and two, the Nipher way. Lets see what the finals are. And great pics Cyclone. Happy your 6 inch snowstorm drought is over. snowstormcanuck
Last call on the 12Z NAM for SEMI: still painting big totals over SEMI It's been happening subtly but the bullseye has definitely drifted north. michsnowfreak
NAM is the furthest north in SE MI, which I dont mind..... Remember now too, any NAM/GFS/RGEM/etc is now not storm total (since there was already qpf before 7am/12z) so its basically nowcast. Batten down the hatches. Just been light snow all morning but probably already 2" of sugary powder...the fun is just beginning! And CONGRATS cyclone!!!!!! FINALLY!!!!! 4 years to the DAY! Chicago Storm
Looks like that area between I-80 and I-88 in N-C. Illinois is the winner thus far, with several 8-10" reports. Probably one location that's on track for 12-16"

blue60007
Is it too early to start drinking too? Getting some flakes mixing in here right now, but the tale has been told for the LAF. But yeah, enjoy to those up north. Hopefully it's an overachiever. Sounds like a plan! Few flakes here too

Twas supposed to be a complete whiff just 60 hours ago. Yeah, memories of the early 00s with this "nw trend". I wish we could all share in on this. I don't feel *too* bad for you because I know you're on a multi-year run of overall awesomeness down there. But I'm sure it still stings nonetheless. I've been there. Chicago WX
Sounds like a plan! Few flakes here too Little weenie band moving through here on the east side right now. Snowing well with bigger flakes mixing in, but warm temps of course. It'll be a window dressing snow only.

I've been there. There's always winners and losers with every storm. Such is life as a weather nerd. At least the "pain" is only temporary. But yeah, can't complain about the recent run of winter here in the LAF. I guess we were overdue for a good bust.

cyclone77
Thanks everyone. Already took that line out of my sig. You can hear large limbs breaking in the distance every once in awhile. Set up gopro to capture anymore tree carnage. Dry slot is sort of making it's way up here, but there's a lot more snow west of here that has yet to pivot through. Should easily break the 10" mark. Thundersnow12
Hard to tell but looks like there is some lake enhancement now seen on radar across Cook county, north of the loop and stretching out over the lake.
