superjames1992
Hopefully my ruler will get a good workout the next few hours. 6 inches or bust ! I've been waiting for a 6 inch storm for 22 years. You should have brought a yard stick. You know, just in case. I always measure my snows with yardsticks, even though I've never needed it. Snowless in Carrollton
I'm really glad there's not a ton of wind with this storm. I don't like wind driven snow.

BamaChemE
It's already above freezing, here in Huntsville. Any chance the precip will cool it down?

thunderwolf
It's already above freezing, here in Huntsville. Any chance the precip will cool it down? With a dewpoint of -2F you should cool a few degrees. Your wetbulb is 24 but I think warm air advection at the surface will offset some of that. You can probably get down to 28-30. Snowless in Carrollton
I'm not exactly sure where to measure to get the best measurement, but I measured the pavement and it's about 1/2 inch. Everything stuck to the pavement instantly so maybe that's an accurate measurement.

Suncat
Coming into work this morning (around 5:00 AM), I noticed that many of the roads had a thin coating of white. Since I'm on auto pilot until my second cup of coffee, I was thinking that this may be a dusting of snow or maybe heavy frost. Then it slowly dawned on me that it was actually brine that has been sprayed on the roads. I hope that the Southern Winter Storm Rule will not apply (i.e., the magnitude of any winter storm is inversely proportional to the amount of salt/bine applied to roadways in advance of said storm). mackerel_sky
Everybody was kind of picking at me about the clouds, but here I sit , atleast 8 degrees above forecast , no precip till afternoon and forecast for a cold rain in my area! Suctastic ! I'm sure next weekend will be the one, until it's not! Turrible, just turrible
wake4est
If you go by the forecasted amounts of precip in the updated briefing from 5am by RAH, Wake County itself is technically not even in Warning criteria, though the counties to the north and south are. kvegas-wx
Last minute trends not good for many. We've all seen this movie before. Noticed the long duration event we thought we would have is now a 10-12 hour marginal event across the triad. Our storm and heaviest precip is headed for northern Va. I would guess Charlottesvillle to the I81 corridor will jackpot on this and then back through eastern KY. It is what it is. I just cant believe old man winter suckered me back in to model watching after I was so ready for spring. Anyone else notice things went bust the minute widre showed up? Lol.
