Didnt know it was Shetley dry out here! It got going pretty good, but quick response from employees, saved the day! Flames were inches from cars in the parking lot! BOONE, N.C. — An Appalachian State University student was found dead Friday night at a home in Boone. Boone police have identified the victim as 23-year-old Michael C. Schmitt. A cause of death has not been released. Police said they were called to a home in the 300 block of Yosef Drive in Boone at about 9:15 p.m. Fire and emergency workers also responded. Police said there is currently no sign of foul play, although they have not released details on circumstances leading up to the incident. The victim is the ninth student this academic year at App State to die.
