Two things I take away from ers's call and post. First, I wonder how this would have turned out had the energy held back like it was modeled to just a day ago. Maybe that would have been ots? Secondly, and more importantly, the fact that things changed so radically in the past 24 hours lends credence to his statement regarding Baja lows and modeling.

I recall a time out west where the models had an upper cutoff low opening up and ejecting across the plains day after day. The end result was it cutting off and spinning in place for days. Once it opened up it sheared out with little impacts.

Dude, you are getting  well-deserved positive karma today.   Plus, you will be in the office tomorrow nite

for "the event"?  Maybe the LWX AFD will mention thanks for important guidance from an "online weather think tank". :sled::weenie:

ers has experienced what others before him found out also. And that is, this board has a dozen or so very experienced, non-met(and met), weather observers who know their stuff from many years of watching DC/mid atlantic weather unfold. Most who elected to be authoritarian simply slunked away. A few, like ers, kinda did a mea culpa and admitted some people here are very good and joinged in with us.

You have always been indifferent toward me. I'm actually from the NE and grew up in these weather patterns.

Lurker here from the southeast. We are taking our three kiddos up to Massanutten this Tuesday for four days so I'm just wondering how much snow that area might get. Are IMBY posts ok in banter threads? If not please delete! Even if it's just an inch our kids will be thrilled since we really don't get a lot of snow. Flurries make them put on their snow boots! Thank you!

I feel fairly confident that the entire month of April will bring the mid Atlantic one of those cut off lows that spins for a month then gives way to a May Bermuda high.  Spring is over-rated anyway.

Massanutten is a great place i have been there with my kids many times. It looks like they will get somewhere around 8" from Monday evening through Tuesday morning.

Enjoy your trip. I've not been to it, but I hear they also have a pretty good indoor water park.
