TugHillMatt
Down from 37 at 2:30pm to 24 at 4:30pm. Thirteeen degrees in 2 hours. What was your total on the snowfall for this? 4 inches? Total on the ground? Dad's family lives in Hazleton...much better area for snow than yours!
Voyager
What was your total on the snowfall for this? 4 inches? 4.5 inches but the rain compacted it to about 3 inches. Total on the ground? I measured a 9 inch snowpack this afternoon. Dad's family lives in Hazleton...much better area for snow than yours! Absolutely. Especially during the elevation dependant events. NortheastPAWx
KAVP currently has 33.7" for the season with today's snow, that's ahead of last year's pace by 7.2".

Itstrainingtime
And that, is one of the reasons I moved away from Lancaster. I grew up in Wiest Willow near Cherry Hill Orchards. Got so tired of always being "on the line". I sure do miss Lancaster County food though! That area is so blessed with local restaurants and foods. Any snow left on the ground there? I graduated from Penn Manor, so am very familiar with the area. I don't often respond on here, but I enjoy reading all your updates! Penn Manor grad class of '83 here. Snow on the ground varies a good bit around these parts. I have nearly 100% cover here, down in Washington Boro and points south there is very little left. Rick G
what concerns me is the colder air coming later this week. NWS bgm stated it is possible for see -teens. That is brutally cold.

jm1220
Dude, I'm so jealous. My old stomping grounds (hook 'em!). Enjoy. Please go grab a few Torchy's Tacos for me asap. Also, Salt Lick ... and Chuy's. And gingerbread pancakes at Magnolias. I miss Austin so much. ;( Thanks!! As a PSU alum I won't be hookin' any horns, but the BBQ/music/bar scene's awesome. And I'll pass on the freezing rain and sleet mess that I would've dealt with back home today.

Not that I'm meteorolgically saavy, but watching his video, I couldn't help but think the Thursday storm gives us an inch and buries New England, and then the Sunday storm gives us another inch and buries North Carolina and Virginia. NortheastPAWx
Definitely looks like the Sunday-Monday period at least bears watching at this point. Thursday will probably just be a 1-2" deal with the reinforcing shot of cold air. Now then, when does that snow map get loose on Twitter and Facebook if it hasn't already? I agree, but I'm not holding my breath, and certainly won't get excited until Saturday night if it looks decent.

pawatch
I will take all them 1-2" snowfalls you don't want. Easy cleanup and they all keep adding to the total. 1 degree here this morning for the low.

Voyager
Idk I'm kinda sick of the nuisance deals, make it slippery as heck to drive in and isn't enough to close anything. I hate having to shovel and clean up every other day for what amounts to next to nothing. I'd rather have a 6-10 snowstorm every couple of weeks than a 1-2 inch snow every other day. Itstrainingtime
Has anyone noticed that temperatures seem to be running significantly warmer both day and night recently? For example, on Saturday I was progged to reach about 20. My actual high was 27. Sunday I was to hit 30, actual was 38. Last night it was supposed to drop to between 5 and 10, I only got down to 15. This has been happening a lot for at least a couple of weeks now. Just wondering what might be behind that. Last winter, it was supposed to be really cold, and it was. In fact there were days and nights we were lower than guidance. I realize that temperatures can be tricky and I never expect the actual to be exactly what is progged...but often lately I've been between 5 and 10 degrees warmer and that seems to be a bit much in my opinion. I'm sitting at 24 now after a forecasted high for today of 22...

My highs have been higher than forecast and my lows have been higher than forecast. I'm not sure if there is MOS guidance that NWS incorporates into their temperature calculations, but something seems amiss with all of this. My forecast low for this morning was 9 while I only dropped to 13.4. My high today thus far is 28.4 which is already four degrees above the high forecast of 24. Last night was a pretty good example of what happens with temps when we have significant winds. You need to look upstream to see what's coming. When I was still 16 as I went to bed around 2:00, I doubted that I was going to reach 9 only 5 hours later. Maybe one of the mets on here could address this matter with their opinions.
