Had another half inch of snow/sleet last night before the freezing rain took over... Bringing the storm total to 3.7". Briefly above freezing now, but this stuff is going to be so hard when it freezes.

Started the event with an 11" snow depth, and well... Just measured an 11" snow depth. So no net snow out of this event (but probably at least 0.5 liquid equiv added)

Man you was right on with your predictions. I was wrong I called for 8" ended up 4".

GOOD JOB!! I apologize thinking your call was conservative!

I think everyone needs a few day break in 80 degree weather after that storm.

Didn't get to see everyone's totals but it looks like most of us got snow.

Now to clear it all.

We got maybe 1.5 to 2" down here it is like shoveling concrete! Maybe end of week for another shot but it looks like a near coastal miss right now.

It looks like the 6"+ ended up being just east and north of town looking at the PNS:

There was also a 7" report from Williamsport in the previous issued PNS reported at 610am though it was a social media report. If you waited til the mid morning or so to measure the snow might have shrank from something a little bit higher than 4".

Overall the storm put down generally 1-2" less than I thought it was going to, which likely attributed a good bit to the slow start on the front end yesterday. Was thinking IPT and AVP were going to get a 6-8 type event.. so wasn't extremely off the mark. Not that it matters anyways, cuz the mixing made this stuff really difficult to deal with.

This storm really peaked in the midwest, as Detroit and Chicago ended up with top 5 all time events (lot of 16-18+ reports around Chicago). Big snows in those cities generally don't bode well for us downstream. This one had a chance cuz of the flat track, but it just ended up a bit north for us in the end.

probably isn't going to take much to cause problems later with the roads, with all the standing water etc and re-freeze

Roads are a mess this is going to be an interesting afternoon...putting it mildly.

Temps are going to fall very rapidly, I just got the cars cleared off and a couple places shoveled off in time. Could pretty much feel the temps dropping in the 20 min I was out there. The water drops left on the cars after I pushed the snow off literally froze back up in a few minutes.

Is it just me or is the zone from NYC to DC including interior areas one of the hardest areas to forecast in the country (or the world for that matter) when it comes to winter? Is it the unique blend of the Gulf, the Atlantic and Arctic chill that sets us up for events like this past one or is it just the fact that there are millions of people in these areas so it gets more press than the same situations would elsewhere?

Just curious to hear thoughts on this.

Mag wind is starting to pick up a little here. Thought about cleaning the drive a little better but thought it might melt.

Now might scrape it with the blade to get down to the pavement.

I was out about 7:00 am this morning and measured. Cleaned my boards about midnite last night.

I have 31" for the season.

Up to 38 here and a little sunny, hopefully that helps dry roads. MDT recorded 1.6" overnight so my 1.5" is right on I guess.
