2-1-15 to 2-2-15 Snow and Mix to Snow Storm

WLNE is horrible (since Fred left).  Their first map for the blizzard (posted on their Facebook page) was 6-12" when ALL the models were showing 12-18".

Barry Burbank is only forecasting 1-5 for the South Coast, Cape.  WLNE is, has been, and always will be a mess because the station has absolutely no money and the talent pool at the station reflects that.

I know everyone loves Burbank but he's not very good. I've seen bust after bust on big events. Remember when we had the gtg at JJ Foleys and we got shooed to another less busy room because of the catcalls over 3-6 and mix? We verified 8+.

Fella you've been busting on him for years.  I don't get any Boston tv stations, and my only frame of reference are the websites...which quite frankly are poorly updated and each station does a poor job updating their video forecasts.  Consequently I no longer have a good read on the Boston on-air Mets.  But I'm glad Barry is still in the game.  Most local tv executives are only interested in hiring good looking young people regardless of talent which is why so many legendary local tv news personalities have been dumped the past decade.  Call me sentimental, but I wish Schwoegler was still around.  Bill O'Reilly disproves this.  He's old, but he's still dominant and none of the young people FOX, MSNBC and CNN come close to matching his ratings.

Well Bruce was pretty bad also....and arrogant as heck. Give me harvey, bob Copeland, Don Kent. I don't have a read on the new guys except to note Pete Bouchard is weak.

I hope he's wrong about amounts here but I consider him very good with Harv being the best. I will also say some very talented mets on this site too.

i guess I'm a little worried up here when despite the models pushing out like 6-12" of snow, the corresponding bufkit soundings have that "never really saturated" look in the lowest 5kft or so because of the extraordinary drain of frigid, dry air in the low levels. Some model guidance suggests that i never really get above 0F on Monday. We did it Jan '14 when i was like 5 below and got a foot of snow (never had experienced something that anomalous before) but i guess we'll see if we can do it again.

can't wait for 3 inches of needles and grains

I think I snapped when Burbank got in hours before Eduoard made landfall and it was clearly going wide but he said it can't miss. Lol...I've not forgiven him.

I think he meant that it couldn't be a complete miss. Remember the outer Cape and esp Ack were hit pretty hard. Just calling it as I saw it.

boohoo you got 20" lol. While im sitting here with my measly 8" and probably have the least amount of snow for the season than anywhere in all of new England. If anyone can be complaining it should be me, but im thankful for what I got, a nice snowpack, brutal cold, and 3 warning snows in 10 days.

You live in New Haven!! Please! You should expect Nothing. I live in the hills inland. When other people who also live in the Same Region with similar aspects who are 20 miles from you and get 50%-60% More than you, I'm going to Whine whine whine.

And these 2 Foot Blizzards are Rare! When you get one, you had Better Kill it. Better get in the upper end of the totals. Cause the next time I Do actually get 30", I'm sure Worcester and NH and Lowell, and Tolland will get 45". I don't want to hear people from coastal RI and CC saying "I'm happy with my small amount, be happy with yours.". Let's see people from jackpot zones say that.

But he had it going 100 miles west when it clearly wasn't happening. He seems like a very nice guy and is certainly knowledgable but when the chips are down he seems to strike out. There's a reason he never made it to prime time...Boston is a tough market. And he's got the physical appeal...good looking guy, aging but quite well.

You've got to remember when it came to that storm no one knew whether it would head NE or pull a Sandy track. I distinctly remember him talking both possibilities. But this is prob a banter debate.

Fella, you're absolutely right about Bruce being arrogant....and considering his accuracy back in the day, or lack thereof.... when local tv news was HUGE...he never should have been so cocky.  But nevertheless, I miss him.  Good looking weather chicks who don't know anything about weather don't do it for me and tv executives should realize this because they're not bringing in any ratings.  If guys want to look at chicks all we have to do is hit a button on a computer and we'll see thousands....John Ghiorse was forced out of the NBC PVD affiliate in 2009.  He does some forecasting for a PVD based online newspaper called GOLOCALPROV.  Mark Searles is the top MET in PVD.

TJ does weekend evenings.  Searles does Monday-Friday prime-time on the dominant station in the market.  Truth be told local tv news isn't what it used to be with 200 channels on the dial and everyone having a smart phone.

Yeah I'm new to the area.  He's just the one I see the most, but after further research I learned he's not even the chief met on WPRI.  For some reason his are the forecasts I always see retweeted by local folks.

didnt you measure more than every six hours? wasnt there almost a six inch difference between your "compact" total and what was recorded as an event total?......furthermore he was forecast the same ridiculous amounts as many of us who got boned in the last storm and i give him credit bc hes taking it better than i am. Im still sick over it and due to the obvious satellite and radar trends ignored by some as the event was unfolding and amounts werent slashed, one wonders if it was all just to propegate the hype machine....and i am tired of the euro taking so much blame, yes it was a disaster in some respects but shouldnt be the scapegoat here as there as plenty of human error.

I don't see it coming north until it's in the Atlantic. The low turns up the coast closer but it doesn't have any practical effect. Until then, like 12z it rides eastward along 40N.

It's a little north Jer in all of the panels I see. Nothing big though...we're pretty much near a model consensus now.
