eaglesin2011
Well looks like the snow is over in my part of Glen Allen .. Its been amazing to watch how the dry air has fringed this area the whole time..Guess we will have a few hours of light sleet when the precip starts back up.... if we can get rid of this pesky dry air... rmcwahoo
Yeah sleet in the city now. Radar shows a nice batch coming in. Shame to miss the good snow by maybe 40 miles, but honestly, that's pretty much life here, just have to accept it and enjoy the weather we get. What I don't want to see now is a change to freezing rain for the afternoon and power outages. I'll pass on that.
Shadowzone
The nice bands to the south and north of RVA never filled in. 1.5 inches in Mechanicsville near Hanover HS. Nothing has fallen in last 15 minutes. We are making the drive to Charlottesville for the UVA game - counting on the sparse precip to continue through the ZR phase of the event. Shadowzone
Looks like a good shot for snow. I was surprised to see the Winter Storm Watch issued by AKQ early this morning. Can Richmond really be tin he jackpot zone, which may be 4 to 6 inches for this storm?

Most likely we will dry slot and the jackpot will end up being 10 or so miles away...haha (the dry spot always seems to set up close to this area so dont doubt it will happen close to this area again) The output does look good for around 1 to 4 for most of this area.... Of course, either way... it will be mostly gone by the end of the day..

eaglesin2011
It’s really only watches so far... But knowing the exact locations where the dry air moves in compared to where the good bands move threw will be tough to predict... Looks like it’s defiantly coming in a bit early thou.. rmcwahoo
Winter Storm Warning for the city, western Chesterfield, western Henrico, 3-5 inches, with AKQ specifically saying heaviest along and south of 360. So here we go, let's see what happens
Jebman
Congratulations on the snow! I hope you guys get a surprise 8 inches! Be sure to get lots of pix, get out in it and jebwalk and shovel lots of snow! I can't complain, I got my snow earlier in the season. Now it is your turn! I'll enjoy my mood flakes! I am absolutely cheering you guys on in S VA with all my heart! You never know, you could get a rogue thundersnow and end up with 12 inches! eaglesin2011
Still just flurries here every once and awhile .. Dry air still winning out in this area... Looks like we are headed for an early end & low end totals unless we get some backfill from the off shore low
SoCoWx
Finally starting to snow more persistently in downtown Richmond. Still fairly light, though. Not sure we end up in the "jackpot" for this one as predicted unless rates pick up overnight.
CentralVaGirl
No jackpot in West End Richmond- about 2" of fluffy snow. Very pretty and didn't stick to the roads and walks at all. Almost perfect Southern snow- I take a point off for falling at night.
Shadowzone
Two inches at most spots that I checked on our property, with 3 inches on the mailbox.

eaglesin2011
The dry air is usually what kills us around here... Hopefully can get back into the game here ((West End Henrico) in the next hour... Anyone in the Chester VA area? Looks like a few nice bands right around that area? ( A few very, very (barely visible ha ha) light snow flakes here now ....at 11:25pm) A few more light flakes as of 12:00 (still nothing really steady here yet)
eaglesin2011
12:56pm about an hour and half into this now getting some good steady light snow.. starting to accumulate on the deck, car tops ect.... http://ramcam.vcu.edu/ica/
SoCoWx
It's sleeting again after a couple hours of moderate snow. Having a hard time believing the 8-12" projections given that this thing is supposed to be out of here by afternoon tomorrow.
eaglesin2011
1:50 am deck , sidewalks now covered roads starting to get covered with dusting.. (untreated) here in Glen Allen VA still a light steady snow.....
eaglesin2011
230am side roads now covered mod/light snow prob about 1/2 inch
nflwxman
A little over an inch here in cville from the two combined events today. Snow falling moderately. Radar looks solid enough for another 2-4" in this neck of the woods with good ratios, I'd imagine.
SoCoWx
It's sleeting again after another couple hours of snow... 23837... This is seriously getting ridiculous.
CentralVaGirl
We're coming up to 4" in Richmond West End. But that's an eyeballing estimate, haven't stuck my nose out in it yet.
CentralVaGirl
Still snowing a little bit at noon. I measured 5" on the front walk and 6" on top of my car. I don't have a snow board for official measurements.

What was your final total? We couldn't maintain the heavier snow rates once we finally flipped from all the pinging. Dry slot worked in and we just couldn't ramp up our rates again. Finished right around 7.5". Not bad but this really looked like the first chance since 2010 for the metro to cash in on a foot.
sctvman
Incredibly cold for southside Virginia tonight. Coldest Wunderground reading while searching was a -9 at Carson, VA. -4 so far at Petersburg.
