It's near white out conditions out there. Did a quick walk around the house and it was unbearable... I was covered in snow! I cleared a spot on my car before starting the walk and had a half inch by the time I was back. Amazing rates!

Radar seems to have filled in with some powerful bands coming through.

Wahoo-wa Shadow zone!

Went on epic walk in city, visibility down to about 25 yards MAX during most of it. That must be what lake effect is like. With all the wind i'm not even guessing on snow depth here, but I've been clearing a path for dogs every hour or so and each time it's had a new 2 inches on it since about 2:30. We got to be over a foot. This afternoon changed entire look of the outdoors. What an incredible storm

For how dramatic this afternoon has been, this is absolutely one of my favorite storms ever. Also look at the radar, we aren't done. I don't think we will see anything like this afternoon but after this current band moves out it looks like another wants to come in. The greens from about Fredericksburg or so are again, just like earlier, seemingly progressing southward without disruption.

Truly epic afternoon rmcwahoo!  After the disappointment and resignation of the way-too-early sleet-fest last night, I did not expect to be rewarded today.  I knew all the models showed a tremendous amount of QPF, but I was so discouraged that the sleet gobbled up so much moisture.  Redemption today, and we have to say the forecast verified.

They'll probably record 11.5 for the storm

Well, it could be just an automatic from the ASOS based on a 10:1 ratio and the QPF that fell......since everything changed to snow. Wakefield may resend the CLI once they get a measurement from the tower observers. And although things are winding down, it's still not over. So, another couple inches could be recorded.
